So I'm back to thinking about this. If I've already got a DISA intake (so this, with all the parts contained in this kit) theoretically all I'd need is a performance exhaust and a tune to be running at 330i status? Who offers such a tune, and how limiting is my stock exhaust? Would AA cover that performance difference?

I'm not looking to sink a ton of money into small performance gains, but by the looks of it I'm already $1700 of the way there. A couple hundo on an AA tune might be worth it for 20-30HP.

here is wat u need to get to around 255-270hp (dyno vary from car to car)

if N51= tune + exhaust + intake (pre-manifold)

if N52 = DISA + tune + exhaust + intake (pre-manifold)

n51 save u about $1000 but u do have about 3-5 hp less then N52 after all the above.

Why not more horsepower? Marketing. There have been three 3-series drivetrain choices for quite a while. The 323/325/328 (US, and quite a few others, depending where you are in the world), 328/330/335, and the M3. At first it was less displacement (2.5 vs 3.0), then when they went to a common 3.0 block, differences in intake and exhaust. Of course, the M's were quite different.

With the intro of the 300hp 335, it wouldn't do to have a 255-270 hp "entry level" car ... too little product differentiation ... hence a detuned 328. Sad, because it costs very little more to manufacture a full-zoot 3 liter 330 equivalent powertrain, but quite a lot to convert a 328 to 330 spec.

The biggest gains are to be had with a PE only. Youll smoke a FBO 328 w/ headers, tune, 3 stage etc.

oh really? the new manifold with intake and tune wont give you as much power as with only the PE?

Maybe a well balanced tune, 3 stage, bmw performance intake and PE exhaust is the route to go?

Or should I leave out the 3 stage all together; but it is a more advanced intake system.. I just don't know.

If it were me, I would just get a PE and a Euro intake box. PE will cover your sound and Euro box is a less restrictive with larger filter intake it will make everything breathe better forget about intake sound plus its an OEM part. AA tune maybe to tie it all together at the end and id be done with it.

Makes sense. I would also spend less money with this. Refurbished, turner motorsports wants 1499 for the intake manifold and all the parts. I'm sure it would help.. just not worth the money.

Word, if I ever sell this complete set it's going for $1400 though.

I bought it with the car, my buddies say the kick is just as high as karbonwerke but whoever installed mine sucks.

Yep

PE gives very little, a couple horses. Perf or Euro intake another couple. The 3-stage manifold and tune are where the power lies. It'll still feel soft compared to the 335.
