Just to confirm -- I tapped the red wire as discussed and everything is working properly. The only drawback is that the amp turns on when you open your door and doesn't turn off for a few minutes after you exit and close your door. But, I believe that all of the 'remote' wires in the car behave in this fashion.

That's strange, my small black wires are ~6 volts like yours but I'm not getting anything from the thicker red wire below the brown wire in the middle of the connector.

Everything is hooked up now and working fine for me. I didn't take any pics, but if I recall the red wire (remote) and brown wire (ground) were at the far end NOT in the middle.

I have the base system... amplifier says "Verst." Do you have a wiring diagram or legend? Interested in adding a center channel and subs in the stock spot.

Btw, another member and I determined that if you have iDrive, you can't pull the remote from the amp harness. I believe you have to get it from one of the other harnesses in the bundle nearby.

So where are the wires for the tweeters in the door? Are they run in parellel with the door mids? This would suck... How are people doing component replacements of the tweaters without properly crossing over the signals they send to them?

I didn't pull out the door panels, but I bet the wires will split and there will be passive line-crossovers, hopefully a 12db slope, most probably a 6db slope, that means a single capacitor per speakers (different values of course) and maybe an extra inductor per midrange.
Some info if intereted: http://www.bcae1.com/xoorder.htm Max |

Just did an install last weekend on a 335 with logic 7. There is a gray/violet wire in the trunk that works with the key, but goes out when you start driving at speed. I didn't like the idea of using the entry wires (i.e. black wires) because it is not at true turn on wire and do not want the dealer to blame problems on such a connection. No luck in any harness in the rear or radio area.
Ended up running a wire to the mirror ignition power (red/brown wire). I knew there was an ignition wire there from previous V1 installs I have done. For access, need to remove the overhead light/controls and tap into the harness going to the mirror. Although it sounds like a lot of work, running a wire from the trunk to the front is fairly easy. |

I recently installed a sub, and I can confirm that these are the correct wires for the E90 325 w/out iDrive:
SUB LEFT Red/White + Brown/Yellow - SUB RIGHT Red/Blue + Brown/White I used the skinny black wire in the same harness as my Remote wire. There's only one solid black wire, and it's in the middle of the amp harness and noticeably skinnier (maybe 20-22 gauge) compared to the others. The amp comes on when a door or trunk is opened, and goes off after a couple minutes of locking. |

fold down the rear seats, then go to the driver side of the car. The leather insert, which is under the seatbelt, pop it out from the top. The whole piece should come out once you have the top portion popped out. Just pull out towards you. You will see lots of wires underneath, should be two wrapped groupings of wires. One of the groupings wrapped together are the front sub wires. Just look for the colors as described. They will be twisted like a candy cane together. Just look... |

Has anyone used a sub other than the earthquake? I'm wondering if JL or any higher line speaker companies make something that would fit.

i ripped out the carpet covering on the left hand side of the trunk to find a bunch of brown wires into a squarish box looking thing, afew colourful wires going towards the rear tail lights, and a big bunch going towards the metal box in the middle of the truck behind the center of the rear seats. i cannot locate the sub L & R wires anywhere. none of them appear to be the colours described. ive got a e90 320i, im pretty sure you guys dont have this model vehicle overseas, but would this be possible that the car may use different colour wires since im overseas with a model of vehicle that u guys dont have..? |

i bumped into a bunch of wires under the step peice at the rear left door and i attempted to wire in the rca convertors to the candy winded cables to find that they were (most probably) the front two speaker wires. hence my subs can only hear HPF. when i switched it to LPF the subs are extremely weak and doesnt barely thump at all.
im finding it extremely difficult to locate the sub wires that are described in this thread to look for. can anyone help me out please.. my car is currently stripped naked and i would prefer to get it resolved before putting everything back to minimize the amount of times i remove my vehicle panels. thanks! |

did you try removing the seat section i described? its the piece that is closest to the door when you fold down the seats. The seatbelt strap sits on top of it. The wires can be found there |
