2. It's faster, I have a better car.
My response: Unless your car is a whole 1 or 2 seconds faster in a drag race due to that super awesome-dual-clutch-I-can't-comprehend-shifting-gearbox than it's coming down to the driver, and tuning.

Here's documented proof of what I'm saying to the unbelievers these 2 cars have pretty much the same type of mods one is a MT the other is AT.

Plus most of the automatic drivers making these comments can't drive a manual gearbox.....like Jerry and are jealous.
I drove M/T cars for 20 years. My BMW is an A/T. My last BMW was a M/T. A/T is fine. The auto's of today being 6 and 7 gears with the ability to hold a gear at will, leveled the playing field between a/t and m/t. In the last 10 years the A/T has made incredible gains.

BTW ....being just .2 tenths of a second faster in the quarter mile is a 40 foot
difference.

I love my 6MT. I'm sure the auto is fun, but it's not for everyone. I don't deal with any traffic, so that might be why.

I don't get why people have to put down one or the other. To each their own. The AT has come a long way. I have had loaner 335 and 535's, I just prefer my 6MT.

Yeah performance wise I don't disagree. Automatics have come a long way and now it's down to preference and whether people know how to drive a manual or not. But the one problem I have here is that a bunch of people in this post think that this auto = win button. They keep quoting and so do you the numbers of how much faster it shifts and crap. Those tests are done in a controlled environment. You take 2 normal drivers and stick them in these cars and you can throw your numbers and statistics out the window 0.2sec in this situation means nothing.

If possible I would wait a bit. Possibly save more money or wait for a better deal.

Yeah when I searched I couldnt find new or used in 6spd. The dealers I went to didnt have anythign in a 5 or 6spd. I test drove the auto and knew I was gonna love it. I had to wait 3 months till mine came in to actually drive it but it was worth it. I do like the fact that I go to special order it cause I got exactly what I want....now if the mpg didnt suck Id be even happier but I have a 2005 GTI 5spd for commuting the 70-85 miles to work.

Good luck searching

I would recommend having a really large search area, and negotiating hard enough that you're able to build shipping the car and having a PPI performed into your budget.

Go look at it. Complement the C.A. Tell him he has nice shoes or a cool watch ask him what he drives or something queer like that. Then nick pick every little imperfection with the car. Tell them it looked much better in the pictures. Tell them you are not sure...before throwing out a price, ask about getting your deposit back and say I'm not sure this is what I was looking for. Step away make a fake phone call and shake your head alot and say "No...It doesn't" a few times. Maybe make the "Air jerk off motion" then say...Ya know I'm not sure there is another car I have an appointment to look at this weekend. I'd throw a price of 24k to 25K out. I'd settle for 26.5 to 27K. Before taxes. Don't argue with stupid C.A. remarks. Agree and get back the price. Make that C.A. go back at least three times to the Hard-on Manager in the back room to adjust the price.

I hope you did not blow your load on the phone...saying MT6 is impossible to find and this is the color I've been looking for.

all in all...if its the car you want then jump on it. The price is what your comfortable with.

What ever you do....do not bring your GF(wife) or anyone else with you. Go alone.

Good luck! Its fun.

It took me about 8-10 months of searching to get the exact car I wanted with MT...

Driving a manual makes it more of an experience. If all i did was press my foot down on the accelerator I would feel less in tune with the car when driving spiritedly.

Although, I will admit during bumper to bumper traffic I do sometimes wish all i had to do was let go of the brake to go forward 10 feet
