PE tips black chrome?

Thinking about removing my rear muffler and taking it to get the tips done in black chrome powder coat. Not feeling the chrome anymore since everything is M-Sport / Shadowline on my car now.

Anyone done this?

My tips sre black chrome. Look good when theyre clean. They rub my diffuser ever so slightly though... Lost a lil finish off the top...
IMO, you should go for it!

I've got the sport IS diffusor. I have plenty of room around the tips.

Do it! Mine dont make constant contact, but 10/10 they're tucked up next to it real good. You're gonna dig it man. When I unboxed mine I was like, "oooooooo bb." Subtle change but it looks great.

Edit: She is pretty!

Thanks, lots more to come. Hope to have a few more mods by October when I show it at the Euro Auto Festival in Greenville, SC.

That diffuser looks fantastic. Is it OEM? Fitment looks spot on.

I stopped cleaning my exhaust tips when I wash the car and they have aged to a nice matte black. You don’t need to spend any $$ on tips just allow them to “ripen” with age lol

I'll take the car by the local powder coater and get a quote in the next few weeks.

My goal with this car is to create a 328 (iS) if BMW ever sold one. Installing the stainless pedal set today 😎

Do you have a link to this rear lower section? or a part number? Can't seem to find it anywhere. Looks great! Drooling over here...

I personally like the polished tips but I do suggest that you adjust your rear muffler so that the tips sit higher and closer to the cutout. That said, could be spot-on... could just be the angle of the photo. Took me a couple of tries to get mine sitting where I want it (especially with regard to "sticking out too far") - still isn't perfect but oh well.

Was just thinking, can you even powdercoat the tips? I thought powdercoating process involved placing the item in a closed container. Without cutting off the tips, wouldn't you have to coat the entire muffler?

Your best bet may be sourcing new tips and having them welded on. GL mate.

EDIT: looks like maybe there are guns that can spray and work without the "box" method, cool

Thanks for the kind words! GetBmwparts doesn't seem to list it anymore, but you can call Jason or Evan and ask them about the Sport IS kit for a 328i. The kit was $255 for everything needed. One piece needs paint so that's extra of course.

I do need to adjust the clamps just haven't had time.

Because you can powder coat exhaust tips. I don't want to cut off and weld new tips. That would cost a lot of money. A friend got his factory Porsche 997 quad tips powder coated for $60 locally. So I figure they would only charge me $30-40.

gotcha, well just figured id throw that option out there. if it was me, i would get so aggravated once all the rocks, salt and what not start chipping the powder coat off, but good luck bro, hope it turns out the way you want!
