Do cars get REPO'ed in Canada?

Hi all,

I was wondering if cars do get REPO'ed in Canada like they do in the US.

Because I see cars get REPO'ed in New York when I visit my brother, but I never see it get done in Canada, well not in Ontario anyways.

So do Canadians get their rides REPO'ed when the don't pay their note like they do in the US or is it a different process up here.

While I can’t say which provinces have this seize or sue legislation in place, it is important to note that it is not with respect to all motor vehicles, but only those that are purchased under a Conditional Sales Contract.

Alberta for example has a seize or sue legislation in place, but to determine if we have it in Ontario you are best to contact a local trustee directly.

Don't quote me, but I would assume in Ontario it is possible..There are 'REPO-DEPOT'S' in every province.

Are you kidding me, I would let all my CC's and rent go with out any payment before I let anything happen to my BMW! And that includes the wife.

I think those shows are staged even though they do repossess cars in the US. Not a job I would like to do though. I would assume those repo guys get shot at getting cars back in bad neighborhoods.

Yes cars do get repo'd here in Canada. My workplace has repos come in everyday from different tow truck companies. Financial companies have bailiffs that they send out who then meet with tow truck drivers when repossessing a a vehicle.

LMAO!!!!!

They do get repo'd here. I work at a dealership and I have seen cars being broght here that have been repo'd.....even though they should be going to some yard, not our parking lot! :P

The short answer is yes... I occasionally work with a company that does repo's when unpaid for a certain amount of months .. actually a lot of personal leasing companies do this.

Wow I never seen it done in Canada before, but when I go to the US I see it all the time, well not all the time, I just never seen it done here.
