Good news. BMW reprogrammed the TCU.
All good again.

Lesson learnt..will only do simple coding from now on.

Glad to hear that. Might I ask how much you pay for the service?

I'll have the full bill when I pick the car up, but from what I understood it was close to nothing.
I did have an oil change and seems they pretty much only charged me for that.

Towing did cost close to 200usd though..

Well, that's what I think it should be...no charge for the re-programming. As I surf through some information regarding the battery stuffs, someone mentioned that by unplugging the negative battery cables for few minutes and once connected back, it'll help to reset the entire vehicle modules or so. I do understand your situation as most of us in HK can't even get any power source from our parking. And the only thing we could do is either tow to the dealer or other mechanics. Two months ago, I paid about $100 usd towing back to the dealer, it's in Sha Tin area (boxing day) Not a pleasure experience lor...

Most of my coding wasnt touched so seems they really just reflashed the TCU.
They also confirmed my battery charge was pretty low, so guessing thats where the issues started.

I had a similar issue, all the orange warnings in dash came out, ABS, traction control, brakes.
But it happened after update the DCS module, I tried to reset with DIS, INPA, SSS, winkfp again and with NCS coding without succes.

With INPA, I reviewed the errors, I had issues with valves in ABS module, I performed a test with these valves and all errors was cleared.

Regards.

Code:
;SG-TYP: GS40
;ZB-NR TYP-NR HW-NR IX SW-NR AM PIN S CS

7847868,0000000,7642021,A,7847866DA,0FFFFFFFFFD,000,1 K
I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but please allow me to ask you a question:
I am running ZB 7845773 but my TCU P/N is 7844978; should I use ZB 7848442? Transmission runs OK with the exception of some sluggish (actually pretty bad) downshifting at certain RPMs on D mode.

Thank you.

God I'm glad my dct coding worked and I didn't have to go through all that.
There needs to be more info on stuff like this.

Maybe try resetting the adaptions with Tool32?

I don't see the adaptation option, not even in ISTA, but I may be wrong.
Point is, ZB 7845773 is what we all have been using, but someone on the forum mentioned that ZB 7848442 is a newer ZB and he was running it with no issues.

OP (I believe) tried that version and crashed. He found out that 7845773 is for hardware #7642021 and ZB 7484442 for hardware #7844978.

I am running ZB 7845773 but my hardware is #7844978. Wondering if I should run ZB 7848442. However, if 7848442 crashes on #7642021, one would assume that 7845773 would do the same on hardware 7844978.

As a matter of fact I just found out that both ZBs will work for hardware 7844978... That's what WinKFP tells me. Just not sure whether or not I should give it a try.

Can you elaborate more on the sluggish downshifts? Like what part is sluggish, speeds, which gears etc.

The DKG adaptations are in the Service Functions menu of ISTA/D.
I highly recommend people use this method over the other methods proposed on here and other sites. Mine shifted very poorly (harsh jolting and erratic shift points) when re-adapted using other software.

I'm sure ISTA works but I've used Tool32 on multiple vehicles, including mine, to reset the DCT and have never heard anything but good comments on the results.

D4/5, 2000 RPM ~ 2500 RPM, 7th gear, cruising. Give some gas, engine wants a shorter gear but tranny doesn't follow; vacuum goes close to zero. Eventually tranny drops to 6th, 5th and so on down to 3rd.
Same scenario, floor it to the "resistance point" and tranny goes straight to 3rd.

Found the DKG adaptations (ISTA); thank you much. I'd rather use ISTA in doing the adaptation. Just wondering if this is needed. As a side note, the stock DCT software never showed these symptoms.

Look for the 2nd to last entry. The last entry will be what you just flashed to. 2nd to last will be what you flashed from.
Thank you much! As for the cable, always leave the switch on the same position (right), correct? For the E9X at least.
