pleasing the mrs.....

so I bought the mrs a nice pair of leather boots last year (and at the price I paid, she will be wearing them for some years to come!) but they are looking really faded and dry from the winter wear.

ive tried some leather creme, and leather restorer, even autoglym leather care (for the car) which have some effect, until it dries through in a few hours.
they are a light brown/tan color if that makes any difference.

any suggestions?

she also has a bundle of handbags that ive told her she has to get rid of, but some of those could do with a similar treatment before sticking them on ebay.

Should we rename the thread title to 'rating the mrs...'

Oh, and trust me, once the ring is on the finger this 'new boots lasting longer than one season' thing, that'll go mate, it'll be new boots every year .

What boots are they?
Make?

Depends what the leather is really, and how it was tanned as well.

Unless you keep on top of them it is very hard to bring them back to life again to be honest, you can get them looking better but much harder.

It would help if we could see the boots, preferably in context

As you two have already brought the tone of the thread down..

I was expecting something a little more more exciting and NSFW about "pleasing the wife"
Cmon now, you were all thinking it...

you old cynics! you must have had a smile on your face once.......

not thigh highs, but they are heeled, knee length with laces from top to bottom.

actually, thinking about this, its actually me who wants to keep them!
though only cos they look good on her as opposed to me using them for my own personal gratification when she is out......

no idea what the leather is to be fair, and brown leather is clearly not the answer some are looking for

As giZZe has already said, much harder to revive leather that to prevent it needing treatment in the first place....

If you have a good independent shoe repairer nearby (so that means not Mr Minit/Timpsons/etc) then they should be able to give you an opinion, and sell you a product.

Oh, and I'm in for pics too, if you are showing..........
