I can feel it and see the difference. I rev match to 3rd at 60 and see the traction control kick in as I mash the throttle. 60-80 pulls are definitely stronger.

Thanks. Do you have any clips of sound? I was going to do this anyways but a power gain with it is awesome.
I have a sound clip on my YouTube page after the cat delete w/ pe

Wow. You are the bearer of good news. BMS downpipe fix and my primaries are on their way out.

Yes. Evolution dropped the system to make the cuts and welds. It was easier on mine as it is sectioned and the rear part only came off. Check out the thread I made about a group dyno day there. You might be able to do it the same day.

I was quoted $180 from a shop yesterday to cut mine due to legality and difficulty. Would you guys say this is fair? Most shops around here won't even touch it. This is 3x more than I thought it would be, and they say I can't reweld the cats back in if I wanted to.

The cost of the piping itself is relatively much more expensive than the cost of labor. I did pay $15 per weld, but I think I paid somewhere around $100 for the piping, if not more (for some reason I'm recalling paying around $120, but I also remember being surprised by the cost when it was sprung on me, so $180 may not be far off). I don't see why the shop would hold the legality issues against you if they're just doing a job per your request.

As for difficulty, my mid-pipe was taken off (I only have it clamped), secondary cats cut off, and the piping welded in. I wasn't told it was anything more difficult than a simple weld job.

Just have them break down their pricing for you and see if you deem it fair. If the shop is charging more to do something "illegal" because they're having problems coping with "legality issues," then the shop isn't any more moral and should just do the damn job lol.

Due to the cats being on the curvature of the bend it is tough. The spacing within the cats is close. I paid 140

I'm getting another quote today. If it comes down to it, I guess I don't mind paying a little more for a quality job. I will probably haggle them down while I'm at it. Were you guys told you can't weld the cats back in?

I wasn't told because I never asked. I still have my secondary cats sitting in the garage, but judging from the looks of it, it doesn't look like it'll be easy to weld back on.

Trust me, you will NOT regret it and won't look back. It was my favorite mod to date.

I believe they're 17x7.5 all around. They're stock wheels. Thinner and non-staggered is better for the snow.

Here in NYC as well! Even December might be pushing it.

I can't believe not one person asked this,

but are you guys still passing emissions? I don't have to pass a Sniff test, but I mean, I don't want to throw any codes by doing this (i.e. instant fail), especially judging from how hard everyone is saying it is to weld it back in.

Anyone have any success doing secondary cat delete on STOCK exhaust?

i guess from past thread, there are only one sensor after the main cat before the secondary, so even u cut the secondary, the DME wont know its gone.

smog check via obd port will not notice it too, however, visual probably wont pass.

Hmm, thats pretty awesome. I wonder if you can see the same gains on stock exhaust. Thanks for the reply.

Out of curiosity (yeah, I have to know cuz i'm lost) what is the visual test?

They've always only hooked up to my OBD port and checked that all the sensors are ready.

In California, they will look underneath your car and engine bay for the cats.

No codes with this setup. It will be nearly impossible to weld back to stock form unless you replace piping.

For everyone worried about needing to switch cats back in you might want to do what I am planning. I bought used mid pipes with cats in. I will have those turned to straight pipes and put v bands on both set ups so I could switch between the two in minutes if need be. Its more expensive but worth it in my opinion.
