I know I have promised for pictures for many months to years hehe so I decided to drop the exhaust last night and take some pictures for you guys of what was done to make it fit. Keep in mind its a E92 Propshaft on a Auto Box.

Excuse the nitrous and fuel line I also noticed when I was uploading loose diff bolt on the right.so under the car I go again.

The marriage.

The stock exhaust fits. The AE Performance I had needed to be modified a bit by banging it in as it touched slightly.

i wasn't at the service today, but the rear m3 sway bar was fitted, the half-shafts fit in the hubs, missing bolts and things that connect those bolts by two were matched, when fitting e92 driveshaft surprised to find that used without modification its longer itself, but the bearing fit right in the holes. so i will send the driveshafts to dnepropetrovsk to make the modification in length and marry the stock front flange to m3 driveshaft with the professional driveshaft welding machine , balance it in whole and receive it back by wednesday-thursday i guess.
meanwhile, send you the best regards, if not you George, i wouldn't ever have an lsd. it cost me $1000 in parts, ~$100 for driveshaft work and i guess about $140 for the dis/assembly. here's the only pic i had so far. and no, my car is not even close to the cleanness of yours.(it's winter here, so don't mind the wet/dirty spots)
i hope i can even sell my stock parts to make up for the cost. hope it makes my car better.

Can one just swap the output flanges on the diff instead of swapping the the half axles too or are they completely different?

I swapped in a torsen LSD on my e30 from a E36 Z3 and even though the half axles were different, I got it to work by just sapping the output flanges.

I got scolded on the M3 forum last year for asking if this was possible. Thank you so much for sharing this info with the community.

Where was the marriage done? in front or rear of the central bearing?

ATTENTION! If you use a complete M3 shaft you need to swap out the central bearing and use the 335i one. Otherwise it won't be aligned

Nice work, has anyone tried this in a 1 series? I want to go this route over aftermarket. Might be cheaper considering I have a 6sp mt and my open diff is welded.

@ smallseafishie: You can't swop out the flanges. 1) The flange lengths (going into the diff) are not the same length. 2) The clip that retains the flange in the diff, is on the flange for the 335, but in the diff for the M3.

One of the reason for the diff change is for much stronger CV's

Sooo if you are taking on this project you need to swap both axles, and drive shafts, but have the rear axle cut

That's correct. The axles/side shafts have to be from the M3. If you can't get the M3 drive shaft, you can use the E39 (535i, 540i) or E38 (735i, 740i ,750i) rear half.

This is a bit more work as these drive shafts have the bolts "fitted" to the rear joint. One can smack them out with a hammer and then use bolts 26 11 7 526 322 (M10X52). This is the same bolt used on all E60 and E65 models. You will then need to modify your rear half of your shaft to take this joint.

I wonder if I could use the driveshaft from the 1M and mate it to the the M3 pumpkin. 26107847024, 26107619258 1339mm

I don't think the M1 shaft will be close enough, considering the M1 is based on a different platform the other 1 series. It would have to be modded, and chances are you will have to mod where the bearing carrier is. Keeping your original shaft would not entail moving the center bearing, just modding the rear part to fit the M3 or 5/7 series shaft.

Below, you can see the part numbers for the 135 and M3 driveshafts. You can also see their lengths.
135i Man = 1371mm, Auto = 1373mm
M3 Man = 1441mm, DCT = 1456mm

I see what you're saying, It would be easier to cut the donor M3 shaft to mate w/ the E82 shaft, however, I was under the impression that the 1M uses the same 6sp mt as the 135...but uses the M3 rear subframe and diff. My goal is to use the diff from a M3 DCT/1M (gearing 3.18ish). If none are available used, I will source it from my local dealer.

To the OP...Not trying to I am just trying to get some facts and details for doing this mod in the 135. Maybe one day this will be a sticky.
