Do they (or anyone else for that matter) do walnut shell valve blasting? Newbold in Fairview Heights (IL) has the equipment but have told me that they've never done it before and I would be their guinea pig. Not too amped about that, nor the price they wanna charge.
I've gotten walnut blasting done at Plaza. I think they did for around $450.

Fresh. At what mileage did you have it done? Did it make a noticeable difference in throttle response or performance? Did they offer before and after pics of the blasted surfaces?

I think I had it done at around 70k. much smoother. however it's gotten a little rougher lately which may be attributable to plugs and coils. I didn't receive pics, but they said they were pretty dirty. I asked them to do this without them checking first so they had no reason to lie.

I just had my valves walnut blasted at Plaza, no surprises, the carbon buildup was awful. I have 63K on the car, here's an imgur link to some before/after pics I asked the dealer to take. He could only get a decent picture of a couple cylinders but said they were all about the same.

I was having rough cold start idle and 5 misfires in cyl 6 (4 at startup and 1 on the highway with a warm engine). They charged $595 for labor+materials.
