Fabulous. If you don't mind me asking, what's your story of ownership?

a short summary. Bought about 10 years ago for not a huge amount of money. Prices were floundering around the £30-50K mark and actually going down some months so was on the verge of selling. Car was solid but in order not to lose money it was going to need some work. I booked it in with a well respected restorer - same restorer who did Chris Evans' car. This restoration seem to take a long time with many excuses for the delays. Finally got the car back a couple of years ago, in time to head to classic le mans. The car died off the ferry, in France on a Sunday, in the rain. The alternator had packed in. The clutch also gave out and I found that some suspension bolts were only hand tight.
I decide then to get an independent inspection of the work. Some other worrying things were revealed but nothing that could be sorted relatively easily I thought...until I tried to get the paint code from the restorers. Their inability to give me the paint recipe, code, even a sample of paint revealed they didn't do the work in house. By this time Dino prices were getting serious. Luckily the Ferrari dealership in Exeter were beginning to get a reputation for putting Dinos back together, aided by a multiple owner who would research the original details of each nut and bolt. So there was a good knowledge of how to make the car correct on my doorstep. With their help and Stallion body shop I'm almost out the other side with the car now....and broke! |

Very interesting, thanks for sharing, sounds like you bought at a good time and whilst pretty damn expensive to restore, if you choose to sell, you'll easily get your money back. Good luck with the rest of it.
