Hi all... did a search and found lots of threads about being able to tell if the Alarm is working but none about it going off for no apparent reason?!

Mine went off 5 times in succession today - eventually had to use the key to lock it to stop it sounding. Probably one of the hottest days of the year today - don't know if that's a factor?

I had this on a Mini in the past and it seemed to cure itself before I took it to the Dealer.

I tried the 'double click' on the fob to disable the interior sensors, but it still went off 5-100 minutes later.

Now off to check for large insects!

Anyone had similar issues with their Alarms?

Nope... and mine has been in Spain for the last year. Signficantly hotter and no alarm problems at all.

Had a number of BMW's over the years with factory fit alarms and no false alarms yet. If you have eliminated the motion and tilt sensor by double click it has to be direct switching bonnet, boot or doors or even a fault with the alarm unit itself. I would check the bonnet switch first as this is in the most hostile position.

I had a problem with mine when I bought it. The alarm used to go off randomly, very annoying for yourself and neighbours. Is there a faulty sensor while your driving? Any lights on the dashboard? Mine was due to an electrical sensor being faulty, which corrupted the system, causing the alarm to go off at random intervals. I took it to the dealer who sorted it out. Apart from that

Thanks for the replies everyone....

Greatbm - interesting that you mention the bonnet sensor as I had problems with that before although no warning lights at the moment.

Lightweight - no wanring lights when driving.... it's a mystery.

Perhaps it was a Fly or something that had got in the car. I had been cleaning it earlier in the day and had opened the doors to clean the seels.... you never know.

As far as I know, it hasn't done it again today so hopefully it's just a one-off.

You need to put a spider in there to get the fly.

Already got a Spider but it's plugged into my common rail under the bonnet - it doesn't eat Flys unfort!

Bugger - still going off. Sure it has to do with heat as it started in the mid-late afternoon after cooking all day!

Into the Dealers ASAP.

Mine did this just after I took delivery - it wasa faulty OSF door lock module. However, it also kept telling me that the door was open whilst driving, and if you aren't getting any warnings it must be something different.

Turned out to be a faulty bonnet sensor - replaced under warranty. Hopefully that's the end of it!
