2009 iDrive Contacts and Addresses
Hi everyone,
Newbie here, just took delivery of an E92 320d this week and I have been trying to get to grips with the new iDrive. I'm a bit confused as how to best manage numbers names and addresses to get best use out of the iDrive. The ideal way I want it to work is a complete synch between: Exchange Server -> Smartphone -> iDrive So that everywhere I look at my list of contacts, they're always the same. I have been playing around with it a bit, and whilst I can see addresses against the contacts from my phone in the iDrive, when I click on them, it seems to want to set the Sat Nav for somewhere in Holland! Anyone managed to get the hang of the best way to do this? P.S. The E92 is such a great car, love the new idrive (and the fact that I don't need a two hands to get into reverse, as I did in my E46). |

With my 09 idrive it seems to bluetooth download the full contact list from my iphone everytime I get into the car...if I make a change on my iphone, it shows up on the idrive next time I get into the car.

Set a destination manually or send one to the car from Google maps. From the options page the location can then be assigned to a contact and is stored for repeated use.

I was referring specifically to the addresses for the Sat Nav.
I have found what was causing the problem, Exchange defaults the country to 'United Kingdom', which doesn't exist in the maps. Everything is under 'Great Britain'. I simply updated my exchange contact so that the country is 'Great Britain', re-synched my phone and then I could select the address from within a contact in the car and the navigation worked perfectly!! In case anyone needs to know. |

Many Thanks, Bartolli... I was having a headache trying to get around this !
Have you found a way to fix the first name, last name problem. It seems iDrive always shows contacts as last name, First name; regardless of the setting in the smartphone. I have tried all combinations in my iPhone 3G (both 3.0 and version 2.x); but iDrive is stubborn and will only show lastname, firstname.

I think you meant not fixed in iDrive unfortunately...
or have I missed anything? -------------------------------------------- I've got it now. You meant the Lastname, Firstname is fixed (aka hardcoded) in the iDrive. Gosh... its Friday, I do need a break !
