Smile Helix FMIC Installed!!!

Last week I was finally able to drop the 135i off at Helix to get their new FMIC installed. On the drive the home car felt like it had more power, felt a lot smoother, and more responsive. Earlier in the week I had hooked up the Actron Scanner to the car. The Intake Air Temps stayed consistently around 88 degrees under normal driving and slightly higher under heavier driving, and the outside temp was 55 degrees. With the new FMIC in, I checked the Intake air temps again and while under normal driving I was seeing anywhere from 62-64 degrees. The cool thing was the more speed you built up the cooler the intake air temps got. The lowest I saw was 60 degrees with an outside temp of 55. This is a great mod and a great improvement over stock. Thanks to everyone at Helix for another great product!

Could use an absorption cooler but that could get expensive and heavy.

Has anyone considered a liquid to air IC?

Kind of impossible... either a calibration issue or a wrongly assumed outside temperature. With a good intercooler figure a few degrees above on cruise ambient at best. You can only go lower with some sort of active cooling like water injection or ice packs.

I think it has alot to do with the effect of the placement of the ambiet temp probes on their readings vs. AIT actual reading

Yep, aftermarket intercoolers really do work.
