Lightbulb INFO: List of compatible phones with the E92

Hi Guys,

I have just been on the phone with BWM customer care finding out a list of compatible phones with my wife's X3, and decided to post up some information regarding compatible phones with E92's. I had the information in a pdf emailed to me this morning but wasn't sure how to attach it here. Note the information here is different from that on BM's website.

Just thought i'd share this info with you all, and apologies if this has been posted already.

I see the Nokia 6230i is still on the list or is this only for the E92? BMW claimed that an incompatible phone (Nokia 6230i) was the cause of my iDrive malfunctions on my 2006 E90 and that it could damage the TCU and warranty wouldn't cover it. They even went so far as to state that no Nokia phone has ever been approved for use in a BMW yet on the BMWUSA website the phone shown on the Bluetooth page was the -- drumroll please -- Nokia 6230i. You can even get the snap-in adapter for the Nokia 6230i in the US.

And in the UK, cos I've got one and had no problems so far in my 2009 E90.

iPhone 2.2 and 2.2.1 work with my E91 (2006 build) - so not sure whether the "Not Compatible" refers to later model E9xs only (e.g. post Sep08)? Even so I'm surprised they are saying it won't work.

Hi Soyank - this list is for E92's only. And more specifically 335's although I am guessing the software in the E92's will be similar across the board.

I just thought it'd be good to have like a 'master' list of all approved phones!

Blackberry 9000 (v4.6.0.162) works well too. Had initial fun & games with the pairing - it only works one way so that you have to find the car from the phone rather than the other way round. Also the transfer of the contact list was not straight-forward. On mine, I had to remove all my SIM contacts and then re-pair and transfer.

Does anyone know if they do a cradle for the BlackBerry's? I can't actually see an arial socket on mine so I'm not sure there would be much point tbh...

This is on a 2006 E90 btw.

My BlackBerry 8100 Pearl has a cradle available for it but the handset doesn't have an aerial socket. I don't see how it can connect to the dorsal fin without it, though. My Nokia 6230i didn't have an aerial either but the cradle had an induction coil to pick up the transmission. At least that's what the booklet said.

As for the point of having the cradle, I got mine because I didn't want the handset slying about the cabin and I don't put it in my pocket. Having the cradle also afords a charging point.
