Help... What is the frequency for my TPMS sensors?

I have a 2010 e92 so it's a pre-LCI and even though it's a '2010' it was actually built in December of 2009 (according to the sticker by the door).

I got a new set of wheels for summer (I know, kinda late) but better late than never. The wheels are supposed to get here on May 3rd, but now I don't know what the frequency of the TPMS sensors are? Is it 315Mhz or 433Mhz?

They didn't ask you what your VIN is to be able to code them appropriately? When I ordered mine for my wheels off eBay, the vendor asked for my VIN to be able to code them. When they arrived they said which corner each one belonged to.

Well I haven't bought them yet.
I found a set on eBay for a pretty good price but it doesn't let me contact the seller

You'll need 433mhz units. No coding needed...

I purchased these for my new wheels.

The frequency did NOT change in BMW, but the actual units before/after a certain date are NOT COMPATIBLE...you car either has a TPMS system A vs. TPMS system B and TPMS B sensors are not compatible with TPMS A receiver, and vice versa.

Sorry, can't look up the changeover date at present; will try later.

They changed the system to current TPMS in 2007.

Found it! BMW changed the type of TPMS mid-year in 2010, so some MY2011 e90s used one type and later ones use the second type. Build dates before 9/2010 use the same sensors as the MY'08-MY'10 vehicles. Both transmit on same frequency (433Mhz), but follow different protocols.

They changed from FTM (rotation sense) to TPMS (pressure transmitter in each tire) in 2007 due to NHTSA requirements in the US. They changed from one protocol TPMS to a different protocol TPMS as of 9/2010 in MY2011 cars.

All I know is that my 2011 has a build date of 6/2010, and it uses the newest style 433mhz sensors. The EBay link I shared are the ones that are working great in the wheels.

I'm confused now.
So since my e92 was build in 12/09 those ones should work. Correct?

Just wanted to say that I ordered and installed a set from the eBay link above and they work fine in my 2/2008 E91. The seller is based in the US and was easy to reach in order to get a question answered. Great price for something that just works.

Try this:

I am not sure why BMW couldn't just use indirect TPMS, seems just as good. IMO these sensors suck.

The change happened at the end of August of 09, at least for E92 335i's it did. I researched the shit out of this when getting new wheels and wanted new sensors to go with them.

Cars with production dates up to 8.31.09 used the older style sensors. Cars with production dates starting with 09.01.09 use the later style. Both are 433mhz, but the data transmitted is different. They are not interchangeable.

My car is a 2010(pre LCI E92) with a production date of 09.09. I bought the later style sensors for it and they work.

This is what I bought from my purchase history

Indirect isn't as good. I have the indirect system on my GTI and Fiata, and it is not sensitive enough to show a gradual loss of pressure in all four wheels due to temperature changes - both of my cars were WAAY low at the beginning of winter (taught me to check more often). And of course, it can't display the actual pressure in each tire - though I am not sure if any e9x's can do that. I don't have iDrive so my car can't- but my F22 could show pressure and temperature for each tire.

Of course, indirect is cheaper. But the original sensors in my car are still working fine after 9 years.

Old thread bump, my car is an oddball it's a 9/06 328 N52K so it's 433MHZ and FTM I wanted to add these to 193M's

https://www.ebay.com/itm/12199400239...3ABFBM-rn257lf

Also is the 128 early chassis a 433mhz as well?
