Afe Intake Causing Idle Problems

Installed intake 200 miles ago. Everything went fine and this problem arose and looking for advice.

On start-up, car idles at 500 rpm and car is shaking. While driving, exhaust has as loud sound (like a lawn mower) and car shakes a little. Drove about 5 miles and Service Engine Soon light came on.

I plan on installing the stock intake and taking it into the dealer.

Anyone have any input if this is the actual problem? Could something else be causing this?

I appreciate the help.

Thanks.

HIGHLY doubt it's the intake that's the problem. Are you sure everything is installed correctly? Put the stock intake back on and see if the problem is still there. In diagnosing car problems, you need to use the process of elimination.

Im pretty positive it was installed correctly. However, another few concerns of mine are;

I also did the wire unplug trick for the butterfly valves on stock exhaust.

Also, my mother had to drive my car a few days before i noticed this problem. So the car was driven with the low idle and other problems for at least 50 miles.

Thanks.

Did you plug that crank case breather tube back in? If you didn't (or it isn't seated properly), you will throw a limp under light load.

The only thing i unplugged was the plug for the exhaust valve. I'll check the crank case breather tube after i install my stock intake. I never removed it when i installed the intake but i'll check if it loose.

I doubt it's the exhaust mod. Most likely somehow you ingested water in the intake?

How many Km's / miles did the car do sofar?

Mine is with a tune on at about 43000km.

Had lot's of missfire issues. Came out, spark plugs + ignition coils had to be replaced.

On there way figuring out what the issue was, they also replaced the HPFP.

Dude...it's your HPFP. I had the exact identical symtoms in my car. Except it idled below 500rpm for like 30 seconds and then stalled out followed by a yellow check engine light. The dealer replaced my fuel pump b/c the triggered code said "faulty high pressure fuel pump/weak fuel pressure." However, after replacing the HPFP, problem got worse. During every cold starts, the ignition would cranck for 10 seconds before car starting. Currently, BMW is trying to figure out what the problem is. They are going to test the fuel and fuel lines. I'm wondering if perhaps it's the spark plugs misfiring. However, if the code says P030x, then it would be spark plugs.

v/r,
Chris
