Maryland Int'l Raceway (MIR)
Hello Folks,
I ran a quick search on this topic but yielded mostly dated threads. I know the track doesn't even open until March 2 but I figured we could possibly get something going before then. I think the last time I made it to MIR was with my old E46 M3 a couple of years back. I just bought my E90 335i a couple of months ago and added a couple of things, hence why I am anxious to give it a few runs. I know for some of you it is a hike down here so maybe we could plan something. It's only about a 20-25 mile drive for me so I can pretty much make it there whenever. I know a couple of locals around here with E46 & E92 M's and various other makes and models so I am also hoping they will tag along. Would anybody be interested in meeting up there the first or second weekend in March? FYI: MIR 2013 Event Schedule - http://www.mirdrag.com/v2/schedule/ |

Private track rental is the way to go. Best $100 you'll ever spend.....with your clothes on. Run as many times as you want without waiting and there are always amazing cars there to watch between runs.

Do you have to sign up in advance or just show up? Do you need a helmet like HPDE?

I did some reading up on launching the 6AT at the strip and I'm still concerned. Everyone says to launch in M2 at about 2KRPM and shift around 6,300-6,500 RPM from 3-4, 4-5, 5-6. The problem is I can't even get traction launching in M2 on the street (avoiding the kickdown to M1). I'm hoping warmer weather and less pressure in the rear tires will help a good amount. |

3 is not too late! I've seen plenty of guys show up even later than that and get in a bunch of runs. You'll possibly be the only car running at the time. A great opportunity to practice launching.

Boo... I was going to make an appearance. I am working the 15th. I will do my best to attend the next one after this, then!
