Can't tell the difference btw the Autobahn and the CP-E
Quote:
jpsimon, I got the CP-E in my car and to tell you the truth I can't hear the difference. They sound identical to me...so I'm not sure what you mean by raspy. The reasoning for the X-pipe design (according to CP-E), was not for the raspiness, but to help cancel out some of the droning. The precise location and angle of the X is a mathematical solution to eliminate some of the droning. Droning can never be eliminated 100%. It's simply a sign that the exhaust is free-flowing. Normal cars don't drone b/c of the restrictive exhausts. But if you install a high free-flowing exhaust in a minivan, it'll have some droning at certain rpms. The 335i will drone for a second or two momentarily at approx 2000rpm during normal green light acceleration. As a matter of fact, I used to hate droning until now. It's music to my ears. I purposely turn down the music when I'm driving. Other (G37, 350Z, and Bimmer) drivers catch up to me and roll down their windows just to hear the exhaust note. Oh and, the CP-E eliminates one of the catalytic converters and you keep the one in front of the down-pipes. You need that one if you want to pass your emissions inspection. And the best part my friend, is the fact that I got a full exhaust (minus the down-pipes) for ONLY $1200. You can't beat that and the Ferrari V8-like sound. How much does Autobahn charge for their exaust? V/r, Chris

I second Holygrail on what he said. I too have the CP-E Exhaust and they sound to close to tell the difference. I just listened to the sounds clips from the CP-E and this one and for the most part they sound exactly the same. AE from the sound clips sounds a very very very small amount deeper. I wonder how it would sound with and intake..... because as of now my CP-E and UR intake sound a good amount better than what I just got from that clip.

My E90 is leased. I know the video says that the exhaust is 100% bolt on, does that mean that my stock exhaust will come out completely intact for easy replacement at the end of the lease?

Yes. All you need is a ratchet and sockets to do the install and uninstall. Everything is completely reversible for these bolt on parts.

I do not like those tips at all... Mostly because of the little holes that you see inside it... functional or not, they would have to go... A nice single walled tip would work fine... but if you sold it with QUADS for a GOOD price, they'd sell like hotcakes!

I don't know what to think about this statement.
It sounds like you are implying that X pipes are bad or something. I'm very interested in this product though. The tips look very nice and not overly large like I think other manufacturers tend to do. It would be nice to see the complete system. If there is absolutely no rasp then I will guarantee that there is a nice resonator/resonators in the middle of the system taking the place of the secondary cats. Adding the catless DPs to this system though will pretty much add a little rasp, but that's somewhat a given. Looking forward to getting more info on this system. Quote:
