^ that would be my guess, coupled with AEM EMS or other standalones to control fuel/timing.

HTA86 would have been the way to go

The fuel system doesn't need to be revamped because he's switching from a twin to single setup, the fuel system needs to be upgraded because the power levels he's looking to achieve can't be supported with the stock fuel setup.

Unfortunately there isn't enough aftermarket support for DI injectors to upgrade the existing system. Adding a spacer rail and injectors is rather simple but getting the correct pressure at the rail and controlling the second set of injectors will be a tough task.

I have to agree, this thread should never have been posted. I have been a development car for many companies in the past and if you think 5 weeks of work prior to your car arriving is a lot then this must be a joke. HPF is taking 1 year with the development car to bring the project to the market. HPF is world class, so I doubt this shop's 5 weeks of work is even remotely significant. The most recent time I was a development car for a turbo project, I was without my car for 6 months and when I got the car back it was far from perfect. It required two more long visits before everything was dialed in.

Yes, but keep in mind, HPF does production stuff. They need to make jigs to mass produce the kits. That takes a LONG time, much longer then one expects. Making a completely one off kit does not take as much time since there is no need for that.

I understand what you are saying, but I did just what you are referring to. This is not an easy process. Designing the exhaust manifold, bolting up the turbos, etc. is not that hard, but you are redoing an entire fueling system, multi-tier engine management, going from vacuum to boost actuated wastegates, etc. and all trying to keep the BMW DME happy. 5 weeks of designing parts will not cover this. I am willing to bet you will not see this car for at least 6 months or you will see a car with limps all over the place before.

Just my guess though. I wish you luck regardless, but it seems a lot of people don't realize this is not an easy process or there would be 10 kits on the market already.

That will be the biggest challenge.

I think the larger turbo will be easier on the drivetrain-- a much later torque hit is a good thing.

Near 600whp though I am worried about the head wanting to lift. But who know's this motor might be extremly strong and take it like a champ.

Yes I would be more worried about head lift and coolant system pressurization. I know from experience on BMW I6's.

Yeah,

He is not the first one on the Ban wagon, my car has been at HPF for 7 months now. And the Intake and exhaust manifold are almost complete. Not to mention that they already have the Engine management and fuel system figured out. Stage 1 should done here in a few weeks and Stage 2 will follow soon after. They have not just been working on stage 1; they are working and designing all parts at the same time.

(Yes, but keep in mind, HPF does production stuff. They need to make jigs to mass produce the kits. That takes a LONG time, much longer than one expects. Making a completely one off kit does not take as much time since there is no need for that.)

I don’t get what you are trying to say… Are you saying that it will take longer for HPF to make a kit because once they make it they will produce more of them? Lol

It still takes the same amount of time to make the one part through all its stages of fabrication. Now yes if I want 100 produced there after then ok, you might have to wait longer for YOUR kit. But the kit will still be on the R&D car will still be on the road.
