Actually mine codes were thrown in less then 20 seconds of spirited driving like sudden throttle and hitting RPM >5k.. If you drive RPM of 2.5k you wont see the underlying problem. You can even observe on hwy when you try to pass someone and push the gas for few seconds that the hesitation and shaking of the car. These cars are design to run fast like Autobahn so they should perform without any hesitation .

I think I shall have this done (or do this myself) from now on every 3 years. I drive 12,000 miles per year, on the dot.

The issue is if you seeing problems then take it to the dealer if still under warranty. some time the issues surface at higher acceleration not on normal 2k RPM driving... Dealer wont do it free just because they look black from inside they need to see that black stuff causing issues for a normal operation of the car. or do it regularly like a 40k maintenance from some indy shops or a Group buy.

I have been driving the car for almost a week now, and the change is very visible.
No hesitation at higher RPM and feel like its running very smooth now. Dealership also change coil #5 on it since they see codes thrown after walnut blasting from cyl #5.

I just got a Walnut Blasting done this weekend. Symptoms were hesitation and engine shaking under load, mostly 5th and 6th gear but would also happen in 3rd and 4th if I was driving slower and pushed the car at low RPM.
Later, SES light went one and pulled a Cylinder 5 Misfire code. Dealer replaced spark plugs ~7k miles prior to these issues so I ruled those out. Next thing was to replace Ignition Coil. Replaced Cyl 5 coil, problem still continued. Did some research on n54tech and came across the issue of carbon build up, particularly in Cyl 5 and Cyl 6. Also read that the PCV valve is situated directly over Cyl 5 and has a tendency to get gunked up and leak oil. Rob Beck offers an upgraded PCV valve which he has tested and claims does not leak. I purchased the RB PCV valve and replaced it on the same day as my Intake Valve Cleaning was performed. The tech at Autocouture Motoring where I had the Cleaning done said the PCV valve should normally have a rattle. Mine however barely rattled leading him to believe it was pretty gunked up. Also said the Carbon build up was not the worst he's seen (Car has 56k miles) but that Cyl 5 was the absolute WORST! showed me a picture before, you couldn't even see the valves.... Drove the car all the way home, restarted the car, Cyl 5 Misfire Code is Gone and all symptoms went away. Car feel a whole lot smoother and pulls much better across all gears and RPMs (But dyno talking ) I'm very happy I got the Upgraded PCV valve as well. it's only $45 and could prolong the time between your intake valve cleanings as well as reduce oil consumption and blow-by. After all is said and done I am just happy I got my car back to health

Had mine done last week at the dealer, they did it for $300
I had hesitation at highway speed in 5th gear (80mph) that was so bad I expected it to throw a code, but since it did not, I was expecting it was carbon buildup related. And it was, all hesitation is gone |

Yes my car had the same jerking under 2/3rds throttle or so. Look back to my very first post to see if the description matches yours. WOT was smooth as was light acceleration. Eventually, I'd get a CEL every now and then under WOT and it would shut down one cylinder for a misfire. Restarting the car would cause the misfire to go away and the light would go off in a day or two. Walnut blast cleared it up and the car felt like a whole new animal. Sounded meaner too.

I had this exact experience at the dealer. They blame walnut blasting too freely. If they look dirty, they aren't afraid to label it as the cause. They charge almost one thousand CAD. My hesitations after 4-4.5k turned out to be a bad injector
