Nonetheless, I took it upon myself to not take the risk and change it out. I still felt I did it 10-15k miles too early. But with your situation, being a 2009 model, you only made it 77k miles...
the water pumps will eventually fail and very probably before 117,876 miles like mine...I pushed it too far and was planning to do it myself last summer, but the car beat me to it 150 miles from home!.....I got a great price of right around 1000.00....but no warranty!...

I do my own work too usually. However, procrastination and Murphy forced my hand....But, luck was on my side in the end...breaking down in the middle of Sturbridge Mass. far from home, finding an Independent BMW specialist who stayed open late on a Friday night just to check my car into the shop and be sure I was taken care of was well worth the money...and I HATE spending money on repairs I could have done myself had I proactively replaced the WP earlier.....Sturbridge Automotive did the water pump, OFHG at my request, changed the coolant and oil washed the car inside and out and took pics of the work as it was being performed (showed the old part, the new parts and the finished work!)...oh, thermostat was done too...

thank you for the guidance master yoda! ahaha

That was the one thing that bugged me most, it happened so randomly without warning in the middle of traffic! Not only is that embarrassing but probably pissed off a bunch of people, not that i really care what they think though. So far Ive done injectors, water pump thermostat,, HPFP, OFHG and OCG, any other major repairs you think would happen at random whiles driving, excluding the fuel pump.
