Please let us know how long it took you to get the car after the ship has ported...Mine is arriving on the 22nd in New York. I live about an hour from the port. That should probably expediate the process by 1-2 days ? It normally takes about 10-12 days (shipping to dealer, etc.) ?

ABOARD THE ELEKTRA!
Just checked status this morning & my car is flying through (knock on wood) the process. Completed production on 1/10. Arrived at port awaiting vessel 1/11. Boarded the Elektra 1/12. Due in port in NY/NJ on 1/26. I'm guessing everyone else who was waiting for vessel is also aboard the Elektra. |

YEAH!! Mine left also! The shipping site still has no info, and the 800# automated still says "waiting at port", BUT I spoke to someone at BMWNA and they confirmed that my car left port today.

Good to hear ChiTown! I felt pretty guilty knowing I waited 24 hours to get on a boat & you had been waiting for days.
Okay, I really didn't feel guilty... but I did feel your pain. |

My ship is currently docked in NY - they are probably unloading my car as we speak
Anyway - Just as a point of reference - My ship left Bremerhaven on 1/2 and as due in NY on 1/13 (11 days) - but it was delayed 3 days for some unknown reason at sea. Not sure if this is a common occurrence but my total time at sea was 14 days. |

So is it me, or has the Courage been delayed again from docking in New York. I looked at the schedule this morning, and it shows that it will dock on 1/31. Is taking 21 days to cross the Atlantic normal?

I have been checking the schedule. When the ship first left port, it was scheduled to arrive in New York yesterday, according to the schedule chart on 2wglobal.com (where they highlight the completed stops in red). I checked the schedule last Wednesday, and the ship's docking date had changed to this Wednesday. When I got up today and checked, the docking date had changed to 1/31. After I read your post, I checked again, and it had changed again, to 2/1. I just wanted to vent a little since I've seen posts were people had their ship dock after 13 days of transit. Has anyone else had their ship's schedule change so dramatically, or am I really reading the schedule wrong.

Same with me, at first i was so happy getting onto the Courage b/c it was going to arrive on 1/22. Now 2/1? Ships that left after will be arriving before it does. That is too long of a delay to be normal. I was going to have my car by 2/1. |

Me Too !!!
Dropped off my 325xiT at Harms 12/28. Got letter from BMW saying I'm on the Courage - arriving NY 1/22. I'm starting to think the Courage is actually a sailboat or a rowboat - 18 days to get from the UK to NY ??????. - P.S. We did it on the QE2 in 5 days - maybe the Courage can get a tow ?.

Need a tow???
Perhaps you were correct...
52,000-gt car carrier M/V Courage (built 1991) returned to Southampton over the weekend after an engine room fire caused her to lose power -- operated by Interocean American Shipping of the U.S., the vessel was carrying cars from the UK port to New York when oil coming from a generator caused engine lagging to catch fire alight. Portland Coastguard was alerted on Jan. 15, that the 22-strong crew were without power & steering 27 miles SE of Portland Bill. But power was restored & vessel returned to Southampton for checks. Coastguard said drifting vessel had not posed danger to shipping as it was outside the main traffic route. From our Sr. Correspondent Tim Schwabedissen (Wed. Jan. 18 2006) |

Wow. Fire at sea, leaving the ship adrift sounds a little more serious than the explanation sent to me from W&W:
"There was problem with getting power to the steering gear which caused a delay on departure." |
