LUX H8 - Heat issue? Bulb Warning message...

I have the first batch of the LUX H8 on my 2009 E90 and the have been 99% trouble free since i installed them last October. No flickering at all that i've noticed. Occasionally i get the left bulb out warning but it usually goes away after a few seconds. Rarely ever happens though.

This past weekend was a different story. With NYC temps in the 95+ range my LUX kit was causing the bulb out warning almost non stop. Left, right both non stop during my entire trip. From what i could notice while driving the bulbs were still on the entire time...just annoying that the car keeps on giving me that warning chime every couple of minutes.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should i be concerned with this being a hazard on my car during summer temps? I know there was a recall on these but since i got the earlier batch I wasn't affected.

I actually got a call from a friend about this as well. Short story, there are no problems at all!!!!

The power units are designed to run up to a certain temperature, and once they hit a certain temp they will limit the output, or stop the output, as to not overheat. With the temps getting Crazy hot in new england, i wouldnt be suprised to see this happen. The units are designed to NOT overheat, and will basically turn off until the temps return to normal again.

So this is nothing to worry about.

Cool. good to know.

Hopefully the warning subsides as the temp goes down. Would it help if i turned off my angel eyes when its super hot out during the day?

what a coincidence...haven't had a problem until today when temps reached over 100 degrees. I got both the left and right bulb out warnings after driving around 20 minutes. The warnings would alternate about every couple of minutes. I was unable to determine if the lights were actually shutting off.

Got the warning again this past weekend. Wasn't nearly as warm out either. I just hope I don't start getting these warnings every time i drive the car for extended periods.

I'll keep everyone updated. Is there anything we could do to make the resistors work better so that the car doesn't doesnt keep thinking the bulb is out?

They actually arent resistors, they are pretty complex LED Drivers. Where if you power pack located? you can try and make sure its far enough away from the engine, that will help it out.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I would be extremely concerned as well.

I haven't had this problem with my LUX H8s though.

Which version do you have? I got the earlier batches where everything is installed inside of the headlights. I think they did a recall and some of the units have the small black box installed on the outside.
