I hope for your sake you know more about using a pc than you know about downloading, otherwise i think you might struggle with coding.

One other thing, is your laptops windows 32 bit or 64 bit? NCS won't work with 64 bit afaik.
I already downloaded it.

Please tell me how to click on it now.

I actually do know how to use it, but what I downloaded didn't coincide with what I was reading in the tutorial... two different thing. It makes sense now.

My laptop is a 32 bit.

Appreciate your help!

Good luck!

It's a lot to learn but rewarding when you get there and can do lots of things for free that the dealer would charge £££££££'s for! Or in your case $$$$$$$'s!

I'm getting the following error when I try to open NCS using the INPALOAD shortcut on my desktop. I followed Junior's instructional pdf, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Can anyone help me?

Did you update EDIABAS\ECU from SP-Daten?

How your main window in INPA looks like? Could you screen it?
It seems that some files are missing.

I am not so sure that my initial download was complete. I am redownloading the software, and then I am going to try it again. If it does not work I will take a screenshot and post it.

I will post an update in about half an hour after it finishes the download.

Okay... I made it to step 55 in Junior's tutorial here: http://www.trevorloken.com/bmw/NCS_DIY.pdf

And I need some direction now for coding out the front bulb checks. He is turning the digital speed on in the CAS module, but I think I need to be in the NRM module for the lighting... Can someone tell me what I need to do next?

You mean LOW BEAM?

if yes, you have to set this three parameters to nicht_aktive in NFRM

Perfect! Now, when I press F4 to select a module, I should select FRM and not CAS as the tutorial suggests, correct? Sorry to be paranoid, I just don't want to screw anything.

Thanks for your help!

You should select NFRM or FRM, depends from production date of your car. If it is after 03.2007 it will be NFRM.

What cable do you have?

It looks like a problem with connection. Do you have two black dots in INPA?

The cable is a BMW INPA/Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface OBD2 cable.

I was doing some searching and I think I might have done something slightly out of order. The correct order is F1 > F3 > select E89 > pick CAS > F6 to back >F4 to process module > select NFRM (for FRM), but I was waiting to process the module until after selecting FRM. I am going to try it again and see if it works.

I did have two black dots in INPA.

I installed an aftermarket set of xenons and I want the errors coded out which means I need to code the front bulb checks off.

Here is what I am doing: Open NCS > LOAD PROFILE > FSW PSW MAN > F1 > F3 > select E89 then CAS > F6 (back) > F4 (process module) > FRM > I now go to the FSW PSW.MAN file in Notepad > code out bulb checks > File/Save > F5 (basic functions) > coapiReadSgGetFswPs > OK. At this point I experience the error. As far as I can tell I have done everything I am supposed to.

After you select FRM you should ChANGE JOB F2 to CODIERATEN_LESSEN, ok and EXECUTE JOB. next you have to edit fsw_psw.trc, but first copy this file on your desktop. After editing you have to change his extension to .man ang copy it to work folder replaceing it with existing blank fsw_psw.man file.. Now CHANGE JOB to sg_codieren and execute job.
Good luck.
