Hi guys, it’s CHRISTMAS in the spring!! Yell!! I have finally pulled the trigger. Its strange how I started out looking at a 323i (which is a great car) and ended up getting the 335i coupe. I guess after driving a Miata and a Camry “I feel the need for speed” Ha! Thanks to all you good folks on this forum, I now have to postpone a few other toys to get the 335i coupe. Well, as grandfather would say “Me Bye, you only go through this Old World once so enjoy it while you can”.
Paul, I am still hanging around reading as much info as possible. It’s nice to see a few more guys from our neck of the woods. If you guys are getting together anytime this summer let me know? Even though I live in Newfoundland I do have July and August off so it may be possible to hook-up, have a yarn and see all your cool cars.

Thanks Jeff. Ordered the car through Halifax BMW I am looking at April production and May delivery. Just in time for the summer. Its strange how, what is essentially a combination of nut and bolts can cause so much excitement in ones life. I have experienced this three times in life; at 18 over a 1983 Black/Red (Int.)Mustang, at 28 over a Black/Red LE Miata and at 42 (Boy am I getting old) over a Black/Black 335i coupe. I guess it’s like Barry Mcguire says I must be “Car Crazy”. Now the long wait continues.

Yes we all have the "Car Crazy" bug. As I get older, I appreciate the way better and consider it part of the exciting experience. Now you can start ordering some modifications (if you are planning any or you may decide to enjoy the car stock for a while). I got a few mods on the way and the car just got built and awaiting sea transport to Halifax.

Happy waiting.

Congratulations Alex on the purchase of a fine vehicle! I know how much the waiting sucked, but believe me when I say it's all well worth it. I've only seen one 335i coupe here in Halifax, and that's parked in my parking complex at work every day. I'd imagine you'll be the only one in your neck of the woods for a long time!

Are you coming over here to pick it up when it arrives, or are they driving / shipping it to you? If you're coming here to get it, let us know and we can arrange some sort of meet.

Hey Jeff - when is your e91 expected?

I expect taking delivery of the wagon in April. I almost have all my mods ordered. I am almost broke!

Confirmed! All the mods are ordered and on their way. The car is onboard the ELEKTRA and should arrive in Halifax 26 Feb.

It is all a matter of when I can go down to Qc to pick it up. We'll see when that will be. I am still shooting for April pick up. I got the performance tires option and would hate the 12 hours drive back in potential snow and what not.

No, I haven't had it looked at yet. Partly due to procrastination, and partly because I'm getting used to it (not that that's a good thing). I'm sure when the weather gets nicer and I have the car looking tip-top all the time, it'll start to bug me again. For now, the rest of the car is filthy anyway so it's not bothering me.

Oh right, I forgot you bought it out of Sherbrooke. Seems like a waste to think it'll arrive here in Halifax...then shipped to QC...then driven back to Halifax! Oh well, you're happy with your dealer there and probably got a great deal, so I'm sure it's worth it.

Don't you already have snow tires for the xiT? Are you flying there and driving back, or driving up with someone and taking two cars back? If you could get your winter tires on the e91 then I'm sure driving it back in potentially snowwy conditions won't be a problem.

Speaking of winter road trips, a colleague of mine and I are headed to PEI on March 8th in his 530xi...which he's letting me drive because he's 60+ and says his eyes aren't great for long drives. This sounds like a good thing, but a little perspective...he smokes...little cigars...and doesn't believe in winter tires. "I have all wheel drive, DSC, and DTC...I don't need winter tires" - clearly he needs a chemistry lesson, but he's higher up the corporate ladder so it isn't really my place to give him a speech about tires.

Yeah I got a good deal in Sherbrooke and they ordered my euro parts (chrome grills, chrome window trim, bumper trim and roof rail replacement trim) with a discount for a total $1800 including taxes. The drive back will take a big chunk out of the break-in mileage req (+1200km of 2000km). And a trip to Sherbrooke with the wife and the kid to see my folks won't be wasted since I doubt we will go again before next Christmas. We will probably rent a car for the drive and drop it off in Sherbrooke.

The winter rims (Sport Edition E1) for my winter setup were on back order (Tirerack). I won't receive the winter tires mounted on the rims until mid to late march so I am winter tire-less for the moment for the E91 which means that if I would go to pick up the ride sooner, I would still have to drive 12 hours on staggered performance tires (if the stock tire would be all season, they would be new and it wouldn't be an issue). I didn't plan to get my CSL rep with rubber as soon as I did so the performance setup was going to pacify me for a few years. I got a great deal on the CSL rep for the E91 (one of the last set from Umnitza $50 USD cheaper than ********** and JLevi SW with a cheaper shipping) so I dindn't wait as long as I did for the E46 330xi (four and half years, I used to be a slow modder).

As for your co-worker, I hope the weather will be nice because xi or not all season tires unless they are less than a year old are not to be trusted in slippery condition. However if the roads are clear it will be fine. I don't understand smoking and smoking in a car even less. It is filthy IMO. But he is your superior officer so to speak so I would say a thing either. This will be a good opportunity to drive an E60 for you.

When springs arrive, drop by Chapman's Autobody to see Kelvin (tell him I sent you) to have your spoiler checked out. I will take my E91 there around May or so to do the window trim swap and I plan to help the tech to take that chance to learn a bit more about my car. It will be fun.

Finally recieved some mods by mail today. My 225/40/18 General Exclaim from TireRack and my blacklines from Morristown. The CSL replicas, the H&R springs and the Euro Xenon are on their way and the Euro trims from the dealership have been ordered. The ELEKTRA is roughly 500 Nautical Miles south of Greenland on its way to Halifax. Getting more and more exciting.

Congrats Jeff, although it must be hard having mods and no car to put them on!

Jeff I am trying to hold off on the Mods for now, although I have ordered the car with the 19” 230s and the front aero lip. That aftermarket bug is addictive, I bought my Miata new back in 93 and over the years I have added Racing Beat Front, side skirts, rear aero kit, wing, tint, Borla cat back system, K&N cold air intake unit, MP3 sound system, Momo steering wheel, Illuminated gauges, Euro tail lights, new wheels, chrome roll bar, etc. Once you start it is hard to stop. With the e92 I’ll probably stick with the wheels and front lip, I must say I really like the look of the 92 as it is from the factory. By the sounds of it, that wagon of yours is going to look good.

Thanks Paul, yes I wouldn’t guess I’ll see many black 335i coupes on the Rock. I am planning to pick up the car myself, if I do I’ll lit you know. Hope you have good weather for your trip to PEI. Take care.
