First speeding ticket ;(
Officer clocked me at 81 in a 65 by " direct observation" verified by radar on my way to niagara falls on I-80. Damn troopers don't want to hear any of it. Anyhow from what I looked up it's like 4 points. Officer said I can fight it but obviously Im not from the area so can I fight it locally? How much is a fine for this ? My first ticket been driving for 8 yrs. Worth getting a lawyer to fight off points ? Please advise. Thx

Unlike Suffolk and the 5 boroughs who use that godawful TVB, most every other jurisdiction will plea bargain. Probably not worth your while driving up there again to fight a ticket unless that ticket costs you your license.

I believe the only way for you to fight it is to return to the area and attend the court date. A lawyer is definitely not needed. Every time I get one I show up myself to the court date, they offer a lesser traffic violation, usually ends up being two points instead of four. You pay them the 230$ or whatever it costs and you go on your marry way.

Hire a Lawyer around that Area, Fax him/her the ticket and forget about out it. You will get out of it without a problem

Yeah
Yeah def not going back. How do I know how much the fine is?
I guess the only reason to get a lawyer involved is to try to get no points or reduced. Good idea on contacting lawyer in the area.

DONT get a lawyer , you will end up paying more money for no reason. The lawyer on does a plea bargain with the prosecutor which you can do. You have 2 options, call up and plead not guilty, they will let you know when to appear to court, talk to prosecutor , you can change it to something else which will be no points but just a higher fine OR just pay the stupid ticket, spend 100 bucks for a defensive driving class which you do nothing in and watch a few movies which will knock down 2 points, go 1 year without any other moving violations and 3 points will be deducted..
I have 24 points on my license as of today , took 2 defensive driving courses already within 10 years, took DMV class to help with points, and had many suspensions. TRUST me lol i been there and done that. |

HAHA i have had that issue before back in the days, dude was a hater but he never bothered me ever again after 1 night i let him know his job is being put on the line for harassment But yes in YOUR case you def needed a lawyer, being its his FIRST violation in 8 years of driving , i think he should just pay the ticket and get the points knocked off with the defensive driving class. That state trooper should of let you off with a warning man but hey ish happens.

Unless money really isnt an issue for you I wouldnt. A lawyer would be easily $600-1000. The ticket will probably be around 230$ and 4 points isnt the end of the world on your license. Are you really worried about 4 points?

He even gave me a tix for my radar detector. It's legal but he claimed it's obstruction of view. I told the judge I would take off my inspection and registration bc it's obstructing my view. He laughed and threw out the tix. Haters gonna hateeeeee |

Ok
Should I just plead guilty than. If I dont I will have to appear in court or do they respond with some type of lower fine first like parking tickets
