Oil change: every 5000-6000 mile, only use bmw oil
Gas: only use chevron 91
No Modification. pure stock

Symtom: Car was fine. couldnt feel any difference interms of power, acceleration. But!
I asked my SA to check my intake valve when My car was in dealership for maintenance.
Solution: Warranty fix- Time for sandblasting!!!

This is the future of BMW in North America and Australia, all 2012 and up will be direct injection, all gas engines will have carbon buildup due to sulphur in the fuel.

Why did you suspect there was something wrong and ask the dealer to check for carbon buildup?

Wut? They performed carbon cleaning after I went in for jerking under heavy acceleration. Only after 50 miles of aggressive "test driving" did I get my car back lol

What did you take your car in for?

They didnt suggest to do this under warranty without you mentioning some type of problem?

... of course everyone here would like a warrantied cleaning as well.

This is the future of everybody.

I'm also curious as to what you did to get the dealer to check. I haven't found a claim that is suitable enough yet.

It isn't true that all DI motors require the cleaning. GM motors don't need it.

What do they do different? Not over-engineer a solution to an old-old problem (aka BMW's cyclonic oil separator instead of a filter)? Just guessing--really interested.

sulphur is not the cause. It is oil vapors.

wow.. waranty.. nice.

All the dealers in the Atlanta Ga area wanted 500+ for the work. My dealer wanted $645.

So I bought all the adaptors, wands, walnut shells and blaster. Total was under 200 dollars in parts. I am going to clean my own in a few weeks.

Wish I could have got mine covered under warranty.
