Plasti Dipped my Pre LCI E90 Rear Bumper

Plasti dipped my rear bumper because paint was fading. Tried to mimic m tec diffusor look. Not sure if I like the way it came out. The lines of the Pre LCI E90 bumper don't work that well with the lines of the shape I plasti dipped. I think the lines came out preety clean/straight considering I did it all my hand. I did use a laser level for part of it.

I tried that a few weekends ago too. Except I followed that accent line, came out way to big so I removed it.

Yours definitely came out better than mine. I saw someone post an lci who done it, and was smaller than yours and looked pretty nice.

I might try it again, this time using 1" tape bellow the accent line.

Your tape lines came out good, did you just spray one solid coat and immediately remove the tape before the plasti dip could dry at all?

It doesn't really give it that Mtech look, but more of a painted on stock bumper look. It looks better without the paint imo.

You did a great job with the lines and accuracy, looks really professional.

I personally woundn't do that however. IMHO it looks a little cheap. Whatever you like though is all that matters

Yeah, I think it looks a little cheap too. I wonder if vinyl would look better.

I did 7 light coats for the middle and 1 heavy last coat around the edges and then pulled the tape. You have to pull the tape while the paint is wet to get the sharp edges.

Man! What a coincidence. I was tinkering with the idea of plasti-dipping the top of my bumper (the area where the trunk and bumper meet) as a sort of protection layer. I know they have dedicated covers/guards for this area but I think the plasti-dip would look better. If I do it, I'll post it.

I know they sell a clear gloss plasti dip. I'd try that. I was throwing around the idea of using it my front bumper as a paint on bra....

This guy used vinyl and I think it looks preety good. May just be because he followed the lines on the bumper.
