Good Indy Shop to check out a 335i
Hey Y'all,
My first post, looking to get my first BMW, hoping y'all could help me out. I found what seems to be a pretty good deal on a '07 335i Coupe at the BMW of Alexandria dealership and I was wondering if people think I need to get it checked out at an indy shop for inspection. Or is the dealers inspection good enough? If I should, what's a good shop people go to for post-warranty work? It's got 47k on it, so it's about to go out of warranty (already replaced the HPFP once, two years ago). Anything else I should be looking for? I love this model and I'm really excited to get one. Hopefully I'll see some of you soon at a meetup once I'm all set up. Thanks, mannytabloid |

The gist I got from the dealership is that since it's so close to the end of the factory warranty (2 months, 3k) that they can't do it. You think it'd be better off to push for them to give the cert. or getting someone else to look it over?

I'd pass on the car. If BMW doesnt want to to cert the car, there must be enough wrong with it to warrant such a decision. If not why would they pass on making another $3-4k on the car?

For being 5 years old the miles are relatively low. If they will let you take it up to Hanover MD, I'd have AT Speed Motorsports check it out. It will prob cost you $200-$300 but if you are concerned they will give you the real deal on the issues it does or doesn't have. At the very least you can have someone from here who knows what wastegate rattle sounds like. If the price is right... |

Would it be worth it getting an extended? BTW, here's the listing of the car on Cars.com. The dealership is BMW of Alexandria, and I left messages with Alexandria Bavarian and Martin Motorsport to try and get it inspected with one of the two. Thanks for all your help, guys. Well if you are going to just drive it, a warranty certainly helps but I planned on swapping out the turbos anyways and doing mods so a warranty would have semi made things a bit more difficult. :P

Just an update, guys:
Pulled the trigger today! It feels great. I got Martin Motorsports to check it out, they gave it the AAA bill of health. Still got 2 months of CPO warranty on it, and only 47k. Purchase price of $24,959. Now, I guess I need to update my signature... |
