Not in a 3-series is my guess. This little 4 banger will base no less than $39k. Current base for x-drive 320i is $34k and $38.8k for 328i. Factor in similar TQ to 328 and the annual price increases.

Would this be cool or what? But we'll never see it in the USA likely. Or am I being pessimistic? How would you like to drop that engine in a 3-series.

The best reason to go with a 5 over a 3 is if you need bigger interior, and the F11 would be bigger (internal ******* than a F10. But of course the Germans think 'mericans all drive SUVs.
