Time for a battery? Where to buy?
My 2007 328XI is starting to crank very slowly in the cold mornings. It's got 130k miles on it and the battery is 4 years old. Does anyone know the part number and where to buy a replacement? I certainly don't want to pay triple at the dealer!

Replace it with the battery of your choice, than take to an indie repairer with a BT tool to register that it has a new battery. Way cheaper than dealer.

Ahhh, that explains why I've been having trouble finding batteries online! What's the cost of the battery from Autozone?
I'm bringing the car in for an oil change soon, perhaps they'll register my new battery at the same time even if I bought it elsewhere? |

Also, if the BMW list prices are as posted by Tischer, the OP should find the same batteries at a decent price at his dealer, if he doesn't wish to go the mail order route. Tom |

With all hazardousness materials, you need a license to ship them. Since the link provided is Odyssey's direct website, they obviously have those licenses. |

I just took a look at my battery, and it is an original BMW one, but it is not an AGM. It is white with the little magic window on it. I was glad to see that since a regular lead acid battery should be cheaper. It is also not a finicky as an agm when it comes to charging, so I will probably skip the 'registration'. This is assuming the battery out lasts the warranty - if not, I will just have BMW replace it when the time comes.

BTW, you can say goodbye to your electrical warranty. If you have any electrical problems and the dealer sees your aftermarket battery....they will try to blame that. |
