Is it worth getting Cobb for just Stage 1 tune?

I've been looking on Cobb's site and it shows that an "aggressive" Stage 1 tune will yield a gain of 8%HP / 6%TQ on a 335is. I'm not sure if they are basing the TQ numbers off of overboost or not. I'm also not exactly sure what an "aggressive" Stage 1 tune is. I thought Stage 1 was just stock setup?

Is is worth it to get Cobb for Stage 1 only? I may upgrade to other stages in the future but that's not something I'm doing anytime soon.

worth it but when you over right the stock tune you will no longer have overboost. you will still have your gears if you use launch control tho. car will still know to pin point perfect shifts using launch control even with the tune but you'll have massive wheelspin due to making more torque and horsepower.

Get the stage 1 now and when you get more parts you can download stage 2 aggressive and if you get more parts than stage 2 aggressive+FMIC. When your ready for the best you can do for your car + full bolt ons. than get a protune in the end. Few 335is has touch 11.9 already with FBO+Protune including me. goodluck sir! if you need any help with modding your car pm me.

So just to make sure, these hp/tq gains are based on overboost? I am curious because my father ordered a new 335is with a manual transmission and I assume there is no overboost with that trans?

Thanks

From what I've been able to gather the increase is based off of 320hp/370tq... +8%/+6% which is 345hp/392tq. That's with Cobb's Stage 1 aggressive map which means you're fully stock and running 93 octane or higher vs. regular Stage 1 which is 91 octane. I have been unable to get any numbers for gains on just Stage 1 running 91 octane. I was talking to Cobb and last they said they were digging through dyno's trying to find one, but I'm not holding my breath. As it stands I just don't think Stage 1 is worth the minimal gains. Probably not worth it unless you start getting into Stage 1+ and higher; unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Why would you assume that?
The MT cannot floor it???

Of course there is the overboost with BOTH transmissions...

Newbie is Owner

Just picked up an '11 a couple days ago. Fun car so far..look forward to building it up a bit. Went to buy a '10 M3, but bought this one and will take some money saved and apply toward mods. LSD first up.
I have a newbie question: Is there an options sticker somewhere on the E92 ? My car was ordered and purchased in Germany, then flown to the US a year later. The US system has no option record. I know most of what it has, but would like to see all the codes. Seems to have a lot of ala-carte options. Also, the dealer says my car was a 'Black Series' packaged car only available via order in Germany, with black badges, black/carbon roundels and black 225M's stock. I definitely put no 'stock' in that statement (maybe he was a MB salesperson before) as I have always known that badging to be aftermarket, but would be interested if anyone has heard of such. Happy New Year

Happy New Year Beautiful car and welcome to the club. As for the Black Series thing that is the first time I heard of it never heard of that option. I know when this car first came out u had the option for the 225M's (not black) but they stop it and left the 313's. The black badges and black carbon roundels thats a first for me unless there are aftermarket, my badges are black but I did that myself, but even if that option is from Germany I'm sure I would of heard of it here on the forum.

Thanks and I like your roof and deck spoiler. Yeh, this car's steering wheel and wheel roundels are also the black/carbon...I had never seen that before. Do you know if there is an option code decal in the E92 ? Happy New Year

ANYONE WITH JB4****

so i installed it about a month ago now, the install seemed to go without a problem; car started right up and no long cranks.

but last week on an open highway i did a WOT pull, and wtf my car went into a reduced power mode and check engine light, pulled to the side turned her off and back on and everything seemed fine, but just wondering if anyone ever experienced anything like it?

You probably triggered an overboost/torque limit code and the car went into limp until it was restarted.

Garage List
Took delivery last week. Space gray on black with 19" 313s. Carbon fiber BMW performance rear deck lid spoiler. De-badged the rear and dropped in the IND painted reflectors. Prob gonna wait until the weather is consistently above freezing before I do the tint. Thinking Suntek CXP 35% all around except windshield. Unsure if I should tint the front. I definitely don't want a tint strip on the front. All or nothing. In the Spring I might do KW V1 or V2's.

My did similar thats why i got rid of it and got a real tune. when i had jb4 with the newest update i was FBO. I used to do 16-17 psi all day until some days when i flood it and it went past 90-100 mph it reduced the boost down to 10psi. half tank is half psi. not sure if you have that on but it reduce the boost to protect the tranny.. not sure what tranny you have but i got DCT. I'm running on Cobb stage 2 aggresive+FMIC and its way better and responsive than jb4.
