If you run the charge pipe, without a BOV, and a big open hole....you are going to have all kinds of boost codes, and no power. You will effectively have a massive boost leak. Not good.

I would just wait until you get a BOV before you install the new charge pipe.

- you can run no bov on a closed system, but you'll have surge.

- I dont know on BMW, but on most german cars, when you have a massive leak, you unplug the maf/map and the car has enough power even into limp to get around. I did +/- 50 km like this when my charge pipe exploded.

- solution 3, get a used bov on market or cheap 40$ on amazon while you wait for your real one.

I run my charge pipe with the stock bpv setup. Why not.just plug it all back in? it's not required you upgrade your bov w the CP

When you get a chargepipe with BOV you lose the stock diverter valve connections on the pipe. You have to use a BOV.

But yeah I also don't like BOVs I run upgraded pipe with stock diverters.

If you skip the BOV, you're asking for compressor surge headaches, and that's no fun for your turbo. And let's be real, who wants to miss out on that sweet whoosh sound? Just wait it out till you snag that BOV, trust me, it's worth it.

Me, I don't enjoy the whoosh sound. And I've never read any issues with stock diverter valves unless you are doing crazy power. Do you have any sources to back up that it's a must have mod? Even MHD don't say it's required.

I did not did extensive research on that, but the big JDM era in north america, a lot of JDM shitbox ran no BOV to got the stustustustu sound .

and lately I found a video explaining why this 'should'nt' be an issue hardware wise. Now for the sensor, plastics and all other bmw fragile stuff, I wouldnt try.
Did not remember the youtuber , but same guy that explained there's no turbo lag with a remote turbo , but a boost threshold instead.

On my side, I still run the chargepipe with 2x 1in port for the oem diverters, but since the single turbo I use a 1in BOV and capped the other hole.

I think he was meaning vs leaving an open hole but maybe I'm wrong. Stock DVs work fine unless you're at a ton of boost, but yes, they don't work in some aftermarket CP setups

if you get a charge pipe thats meant to work with a BOV, it will have a big hole. you cannot run this charge pipe without a BOV because of boost leaks and the danger of unfiltered debris getting in.

If you get a charge pipe that's meant to work with diverter valves, you can connect the stock diverter valves or aftermarket ones, and use it without a BOV
