Question Lease Question...

OK.. I leased a loaner 335i (w/ 12,500 miles) this past December for 24 months, come next April I will be at my allowed mileage (15k/yr), I'm in sales and drive 25k per year.

I currently have two vehicles, but plan on giving my Pathfinder to the folks in a couple of weeks. I'd rather shell out cash than to bail out of giving it to them... My question is, since the warranty is up at 50k, is it worth it for me to turn the car in (very) early, pay the remaining months right then and there, or does BMW offer warranty extensions to meet overages?

IIRC, I think you can buy additional miles ahead of time. I'd call BMWFS. I think that I was offered some sort of plan with my lease that would have taken issues like that into account. I declined since I'll probably only have about 25K miles at the end of three years.

Gotchya... I plan on doing that. Do you know if I can extend the warranty as well?

I think when I got mine that they had a plan for that, too. Again, I declined because I'm out at three years. Worst case, I'd figure you could get it CPO'd or something.

the only way to extend warranty is to buy the extended warranty. probably not worth it if you're only going to keep it for 2 years...

as the extended 6 year 100k mile maintenance warranty is like $2k

Maybe leasing isn't a good idea. . .
My company rents cars from Enterprise here at a great rate and then like 20-30k miles later they exchange it for a new one and Enterprise sells the cars at discounted prices to the public. Might be a good idea.

Hmm.. Interesting. My company gives me $1k a month towards a vehicle, however it is nice to pocket some of it, but it's really not looking too good for next year..

WOW! $1k per month for a car!? That's amazing!
But yeah, with a rental you have unlimited mileage. . . I'd look into it.
BTW
Mind if i ask what you do that provides you with a $1k per month car allowance

I came from a job paying me $250/mo so yeah, I was surprised as well! I'm a packaging consultant to pharma companies. Next time you have bitch of a time taking off a child resistant cap, think of me!

Surely... I didn't put any money down and my payment is $532/mo + 10% PA state lease tax (gag) and I received back $1000 from the dealer. I have all options but sport and nav. I should also note that my brother in law works for BMW so I was given a 'family discount'. BMW of Bloomfield

LOL.. Thanks! I just hope the 'pending' recession doesn't change that amount!

I'm not a pharmaceutical sales rep, I sell to pharmaceutical manufacturers.. My employer is a large packaging distributor based in Jersey, I'd say the name of the company but since we're on a public forum I really shouldn't.

Hey, just so you know, you can buy additional miles. Here's what the OC says:
Quote:
What does it mean to buy more Lease miles?
More Miles = more driving fun. So, you think that you might go over the number of miles in your lease contract? BMW Financial Services allows you to buy additional miles today, for up to a 20% savings, and enjoy more driving fun now without paying more later.

Why should I buy more miles?
Enjoy more miles of exhilarating driving behind the wheel of your BMW. Why worry about having to pay at the end of your lease for going over your allotted miles? Use the mileage calculator to estimate the number of additional miles you want to enjoy in your BMW and see how much you will save by purchasing them now.

What are the benefits?
Cost Savings - Save up to 20 percent on additional lease miles by purchasing them ahead of time
Flexibility - Additional miles can be purchased in one lump sum payment, or the total cost may be spread out over the remaining monthly payments.
It's Easy! Everything you need to complete this process is available right here on the Owners' Circle.
Don't delay! This service is available to you until you reach 4 months from the end of your lease. So purchase your additional miles today!
If you have the Financial Services section active on the OC, there is a calculator you can use to determine how many miles you need to buy as well as the associated cost. I would have told you this the other day, but I had a new lease and they hadn't turned on the functionality yet since I had no account at the time.
