Show me and everyone your brakes! Pics please...(Brake kits & rotor upgrades)

I see that there are just a few "Stickies" for suspensions but nothing about "Brake Options". I am looking hard to find out what everyone that has done with some kind of upgragde, be it just rotors, pads, painted, polished or just some Big 'Ole Big Brake Kits (BBK).

I don't need brakes right now and I have plenty of meat on the shoes. But I want to start researching what is good - not only value but quality!
It is the time now when the weather is hot and dry and those streets and track days will put some hurt on the braking system. What is out there to choose from?

Post pics of your cars with close-ups on the brakes and wheel combos and whole car shots so we can all admire and see how well some brake set-ups look to make the cars complete.

Tell your story on the set-up that you have (good or bad).

Below are words that I will list so that future searches can find this post.
EBC brakes
R1 Concepts
ECS Tuning
Tire Rack
Stop Tech
Brembo
Power Stop
AKEBONO
Centric
Hawk Performance
DBA 4000
DBA 5000
BBK
High Carbon
Slotted
Vented
Drilled
coated
2-Piece Rotor with Hat
Semi-Metallic Pads
Carbon-Metallic Pads
Ceramic Pads
EBAY <-- Stay away from this! If you like Warpage, go for it...

Let me know if there are more...

Looking for a thread like this with detailed options but all I see is this photo thread, still not too bad though.

I ended up going with the ecs drilled and slotted rotors with the hawk hps pads installation was fairly easy and brakes stop on a dime still have some brake dust but not as bad as the stock brakes! I believe I picked these up for 517 and free shipping

check the picture threads. Took me 30 seconds of searching to find this one, there's probably more.

^^ yeah I know, but still. I want this to be more comprehensive and a good tool to get the right information.

So something else of interest... I just saw somewhere in one of the posts on one of the threads that the Z4 35is has interchangeable rotors to the 335i. Apparently th Z4 35is has a 2 piece rotor with an aluiminum hat...

So...
Z4 sDrive35i - 2009 with the N54B30 engine.
Z4 sDrive35is - 2010 with the N54B30TO engine

Below this is the Front at 330mm with aluiminum hat "OEM" from RockAuto

Name: getimage.jpg
Views: 715
Size: 9.8 KB

Below this is the rear at 300mm from RockAuto

Name: getimage rear.jpg
Views: 720
Size: 9.2 KB

Below ECS Tuning are selling these with 348mm
as a Z4 upgrade for the 335i

Name: ECS Tuning Z4 upgrade.jpg
Views: 722
Size: 22.0 KB

If the "Z4 35is" is 330mm and the apparent size for E92 335i is 348mm, How would this work?

So is this verified with anyone here?

I went with the Racing Brake ones and their ET500 street performance pads.

Put them on in March. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

I started with Stoptech drilled and slotted and I liked them but when I saw the 2 piece ECS rotors I just had to bite. The great looks was the main reason but the added advantage of 4lbs unprung weight savings per rotor is an added plus. My eventual goal is a Big Brake Kit but for now I am satisfied. The pads I chose were Akebono due to brake dust issues on my black BBS rgrs with the oem pads. I also upgraded all 6 brake lines with the ECS kit. The stopping power and initial bite is just like OEM but I get 95% less brake dust than I used to get. I also painted my calipers and used a high temp BMW sticker covered in high temp clear coat spray.

Very cool find... A vented slot...

I see from the website that the rear thickness was increased from 22mm to 24mm. Were there any problems with the fitment of the rear brake pads due to the rotor being thicker?

You only got the rear?

How have they been performance-wise?

No issues at all and they've been great. A little more noise due to the slots but barely noticeable.

I got both fronts and rears.

Awesome! that is good to hear that there is less brake dust! Just what I need.

As far as the high temp clear -- I was wondering about that... I was going to try to polish the aluminum calipers and carrier and make it a brushed look and then seal it up with high temp clear. I wonder if it would work or the clear would eventually yellow or discolor from the heat....?

Here are my stoptech street performance rotors and pads.

While they look great IMO, the brake feel is horrible (steering wheel judder). Stoptech has told me that it's because I don't drive aggressively enough for the pads and they don't get up to temp affecting the wear pattern on the pads/rotors and hence the vibration. Unfortunately I'll have to change it out soon as it's ruining my driving experience. Any thoughts/suggestions are welcomed.

Sorry to hear about the problems. Stuff like that drives me frickin crazy. Sounds to me like a pad issue. I had no judder or noise with my drilled and slotted stoptechs. I also have no noise or judder from my ECS's.

Thanks, I'm bummed as it has really ruined my driving experience. So you're running akebono pads with the stoptechs and no issues? What's your driving style?

I would say my driving style is spirited. I accelerate hard and brake hard. The stoptechs are on the shelf in my garage. When I did use the stoptechs I had them with stock OEM pads and I had no issues for 2 years. I am currently running the ECS drilled slotted 2 piece rotors, ECS brake lines and akebono front and rear pads. Nice bite, low dust, no squeal, shimmy, or vibration. Pedal feel is very good but not as good as Brembos I have had in the past. I am very satisfied.
