Best sports car in the world?

Motor Trends Kim Reynolds likes the 2010 Cayman S so much he describes it as "the best sports car in the world".

Pretty strong words but I have always enjoyed his writing and respect his opinions. He wrote that their 0-60 times/both directions, netted 4.5 seconds "without really trying". Porsche claims 4.9 seconds. Small but needed interior improvements were welcomed too.

It sure makes me want to drive one!

He likes to sit low in the car or is he short? From that picture you can barely see the guy over the steering wheel.

GT3 or GT2 maybe. F30 Scud, 560-4 Gallardo, Ariel Atom, Caterham, GTR, Koenigiseggs, Zondas, ZR1 etc.

Cayman is like M3, ISF, 911, Corvette class.

The article, I believe, is aimed at all categories of a sports car. INCLUDING price. He really rants about how connected he felt in the car. Class was not the heart of the review. But sports car was. A high/insane price does not make a car feel better. I think you may be missing his opinion in one way or another.

I see... well that's so subjective now you'll have people saying all kinds of stuff.

I took "Best Sports Car" to just mean best sports car.

So best bang for buck, then sure it's a contender. As is practically anything. E30!

On CaymanClub some guy posted a video of himself out-tracking a GTR in a Cayman S.

Very well balanced cars with superb handling.

Perhaps he means sports car to a category like the M3, I think he means that category as "Sports Car"... I think he's not referring to it as the "Ultimate Super Car" in which surely there's a lot more to think like the McLaren F1, Enzo, Zonda, Veyron, etc,...
