How can I make the 328xi beep when pushing key fob?

I found my old '96 328i had a useful 'beep' when I was using my remote key entry as a way to find my car in a crowded parking garage. I can't make my new 2011 328xi do the same, so far. Any thoughts? I can't even make it go into 'panic' mode when pushing the remote buttons.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you need the alarm to "get the beep".

OP, your car doesn't have the alarm installed.

If you do have an alarm, have the dealer check the programmable remote options. When
I had my 3 series, I had the audible shut off, so my parents would not know what time I got home. On the X5, I gave back last week, I had the sound shut off for unlock, but on for lock. I park in a secluded, underground lot and I leave for work at 4:30 AM. I did not want to bring attention to myself by unlocking the car.

Just yell out "beep" real loud and annoying. That's what I do and it's worked for me.
