I was in a similar accident, cracked the front axle and the hood buckled. I walked away from it with not even a scratch. My 1998 328 saved my life....
Hope you're doing well man just be grateful that for the most part you walked away.

tough luck hotsand5, it happens, I have had a few crashes meself some my fault some not, but only 2 that look this big, I remember the worst which was my fault, and I walked away from it, I was driving a polo 16V and genuinely was lucky, car was wrecked but they repaired it car was only worth £5k reapirs cost £4.5k but they still insisted on repairing it, i think some cars are easier to repair than others ie more modular.
as regards your car and looking at the pictures.... that was a good hit, I would say its fuked personally, its taken a major impact at unplanned for angle to one side of the bumper, all the energy has been transferred through the chassis of the car at an unplanned for angle, the air bags have inflated etc, trust me most cars have telescopic crash beams which can take some force but as I said I have some experience of this and again at an angle, it will never be the same, you should inist on a new car...........My 16V Polo years ago was never the same it creaked and groaned for the rest of its life. Sorry to giv bad news but this is my experience |

Sorry to hear that. Looks like that guy ran the stop sign at 20mph+, why do people do that? Sometimes I don't stop fully at stop signs either, but never that fast.

I also noticed that the BMW badge and grills are still in place, but did anyone notice that the Lexus badge is on the street with the rest of the debris?

Most important you or someone are still alive
Cars are materials, you can always buy news ones from insurance money. The damage does not look that bad as seems the doors and windshields were intact. Good luck

Sorry to read about that - if I were you I would certainly hope the car would be written off so I could get another new one than repair this one. Nothing like new...hope your hand escaped anything major.
