Did they actually turn off the the traction control? It seemed like they were trying to drive it in 2 wheel drive with traction control on.

Not all of the Tdi's had a button to turn it off. But it is easily added, seen that mod done on Tdiclub.
I think all golf have the button to turn off traction control.

does our D's have secret button? I've been pushing all buttons lately after seeing this video to see if there is super turbo mode somewhere.

Amigo, no mames! jajajajajaja

I cannot understand why VW would risk their reputation for 15 or so horsepower. From reading the report they had the passengers and their gear in the car plus a 600b smog machine. Nox were measured going up and down hill. Which that, included with the excess is weight is going to significantly increase Nox. I think that the pollution put out is overstated. Vw did "cheat" their software a bit. But I think that any other types of cars would have major differences in emissions under the conditions they put these 3 diesels under.

I wonder if that 1200 hp Mitsu is more fuel efficient and less polluting....

I dont under stand that test, it's just getting confused as the abs/esp can see front wheels moving and rears not. So its trying to regulate wheel speed! Then after so long it gives up and thinks there's a fault!

Our sprinters and vitos etc do the exact same thing when we Jack up the rear to find a whine from the driveline! It's nothing special that video makes it sound like it's in a defeat mode! It's a pointless video!

The way i understood the video is that they wanted to replicate a moving car versus stand still idling and have comparos of emissions issues that were discovered by an independent lab. It still confuses me
