M Sport Alloys, What Colour are they?

Hi All,

Had a couple of wheel refurbs done today by 'Wicked Wheel' top quality job, but....they haven't got the colour quite right? They don't seem to be as reflective or metal looking if that makes sense, They said they would redo them (no charge) and the tech said it looked like they were slightly chromed and agreed that the colour was off.

He stated he has the paint but didnt think they were the chrome ones....

Anyone shed any light on this, what is the colour? anyone else had the same problems?

your thoughts welcome

I went to my local dealer the other week and spent about twenty minutes with the parts guy trying to find out the colour to no avail. As I couldn't get the same colour match I sent the wheel away and got it done. We also had a wheel refurbed by the dealer on our last 330d Sport (foc) and it was spot on, looked like a new wheel.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris...

This is my worry....they won't be able to get it spot on, resulting in odd wheels, i wouldn't say there miles out, but, there just not matched.

They said they will have another go using the chrome type paint, hopefully next time they will get it spot on...kinda wishing i'd left the scuffs on now!

Hi .snap i had exactly the same problem .I ended up having all four wheels done .I think the dealer thought i was being awkward but my argument was at £75 plus vat each i want them right

The mongrels then painted another and put the two repainted wheels on one side of the car so it looked fine .but it bothered me so much i had the other two done by wicked wheels did you use crawley sussex branch by any chance.

What i would say is they are a great bunch of guys and there work is super but how many different silvers are there .What i also noted i had a brand new rim and tyre in my garage and it matched the refurbished wheels fine ,i think my stock wheels had gone a little yellow with age/ dirt but now they are all done im pleased

Fortunately on our last 330d the wheels were the MV2 design and didn't have the chrome effect paint like the 193s and were much easier to match.

As I said the wheel I've just had done matches pretty well but it's only an emergency spare.

Regards

Reminds me of when I had a passat and the vw dealer damaged the alloys when fitting new front tyres....admitted it and had them repainted and then put them front and rear on the one side as they didnt match the other 2!! They were a matt finish while original was glossy!! Unfortunately for them I noticed so they had to do all 4!!!

Yes they are slightly chromed... i can see where mine have been repaired if I look closely due to colour mismatch, but I shall get all 4 done next summer hopefully if I keep the car.

Like you say, for the price they charge....

They also damaged the rim whilst taking of the RFT's, ironic really as he was repairing them anyway, well that was his attiude.

The rims were originaly repaired when purchased the car, was a deal clentcher, a case of "ok, i'll buy the car, but sort out the rims"..." no problem sir, we have just the guy".

I noticed a few weeks after detailing the car the wheels colour was miss matched, the main dealer admited liability, and sent out wicked wheels to sort it out, so from that angle, i can't complain.

Along come wicked wheels, do a sterling job, and i'm back where i started

They are having another go on Tuesday, so will keep you posted of my progress... should just get them powder coated mat black!!

Result!!!

Had Wicked wheels (called prestige wheels up North) back today to redo the alloys, and i'm really chuffed with the final result.

Guy call james came over at 8:30 this morning, and did a fantastic job. (he had the contract for BMW - Davis holmes so really knew about the various colours etc)

He has matched them up spot on!

Very Very happy, and would highly recommend them...these guys aint the cheapest but the quality/craftmanship is absolutley A1. Highly recommended
