I'm a noob, what is this wideband 02 sensor and how would I use it? I had a horrible dyno today and I'm thinking it might be due to the sensors

A wideband is what monitors A/F. The extra hole is for an aftermarket in car wideband if you want to monitor AF in the car, or for the dyno instead of sticking it in the tailpipe. What kind of issues did you have on the dyno? What were the results? PM me if you dont want to post it here. |

Thsi is stock with downpipe. Sound is awesome and yes I covered the whole, my friend Cris found a screw that fit and stuck it in there and sawed off the extra part. And it smells like carbon lol. But only with the windows down. |

yeah, but the numbers were really really low. For some reason my boost was just not hitting its autotune settings. Not sure if there wasn't enough air, o2 sensor, I was a little sad.

Few questions.
Did you do a baseline on this same dyno? Did you log boost during the pulls with the DP? If so what did you see for boost? On the street can you feel that massive TQ drop? You should be able to. Also you said it smells inside the car. Are you POSITIVE you do not have an exhaust leak. If you do this will cause the car to have trouble making boost without a doubt. Check the Vband on the DP closely. Last thing. I see this is a dynojet dyno. Is it a loaded dyno? If so were they using the load control. I have seen many issues with turbo cars on non loaded dynos. The dyno doesnt properly load the turbo causing it to not spool properly, spool late, break up because there is not enough load, and power fall off just like yours. |

If you can find out if it is loaded and if they were using the load control. Those dyno #s may be bunk if its not loaded. Take a ride in the car. Do a 2nd gear pull from 2k up, that 75ftlbs drop you should feel significantly if there is something wrong. If you dont feel it, I would be 100% confident it is due to the dyno. It wouldnt have anything to do with air, heatsoak is possible, which would cause boost drop off. I HATE dyno jets, they are good to make big #s for bragging rights, thats it. I have seen time and time again issues with making/holding boost with turbo cars because of it not being loaded. Basically all you are is spinning a drum with no resistance. A loaded dyno would put resistance on the car simulating the same thing you would be on the street. More accurate for tuning, and more accurate dyno #s.
Are there any shops with a Mustang Dyno or Dynapack in your area? Something you may want to give a shot before you pull your hair out thinking there may be an issue. |
