BMW Canada extends warranty to 10 years on n54 hpfp!

So to finally put this argument to rest, i spoke to the head tech at auto-west BMW in Richmond and I received confirmation that BMW has extended the hpfp warranty to 10 years for us Canadians. It's all very preliminary still, so there is no documentation as of yet, however once documentation is available, I will be getting a copy sent to me which I'll gladly post on the forum.*

Great news for us out of warranty 335s!!!

I hope you are right but you can't "put the argument to rest" if it is still "very preliminary." That's a contradiction right there. I'll believe it when I read it.

"preliminary" meaning that they hadn't received documentation for the public on it as of yet, however, they have replaced a number of failed hpfp units on out of warranty 335s covered by BMW Canada and have instructions to follow the same 10 yr warranty routine as implemented in the U.S.

As for the n55, they are still all under warranty, hopefully when they fall out of warranty, BMW will have resolved this problem once and for all.

GREAT news, but I will wait until I see it in writing. I have spent too much time with lawyers to trust anything not in writing.

Visited a dealer in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago to look at some used E90 335 models. The sales guy claimed that he had never heard of any HPFP issues, and also said that the Canadian cars were "different" from the American cars. Not sure whether this was ignorance on his part, or an indication of how dumb they think the average customer must be.

OP, Did Kenneth actually say that? It's still an issue as they would replace it IF they have a code that can be re-produced. I have stumble starts etc but no code so, i'm out of luck.. SUCKS!!

try another dealer.
I've had 2 hpfp's replaced for long crank and rough idle in the morning, both times without any codes thrown.

Smells like BS - just avoid the whole issue all together - Save for an M3!

Mine was replaced at 10,000.

Definitely go in right away and get it replaced once you have a long crank or rough idle, any sign of abnormality. It usually dies within the week after the tell tale signs and you don't want that happening to you or your family while driving.

I actually wouldn't mind an E46 M3. E9x M3 is more than I want to spend on a second car. I'm also sorely tempted by this.

Nice E36 M3. Don't forget M3s are gas guzzlers, have higher insurance rates and maintenance costs/parts are at least 50% more than a non-M.

I’m assuming this is a BMW dealership with a certified BMW repair facility? BMW Canada makes the decisions on warranty covered work; it shouldn’t be up to the individual dealerships.
