I thought it would be interesting to see what fellow members had for their very first car and if applicable any mods you may have had....

I bought a used 1984 Toyota Celica GTS hatchback for $3500. Two-tone silver over black. It was in cherry condition despite having over 100k mi on the clock. Flipped it a yr later, insurance wrote me a check for $5,500. SCORE!

Mine was a '97 Honda Civic HX Couple. It had power windows and locks, but no A/C. I never really had a need for a car since I lived in NYC (plenty of public transportation), but when I moved to MA, my wife and I decided we should each have our own cars. I decided to buy something cheap since I didn't want to spend too much money so I ended up buying it from a friend for $3500.
The only mods I did to it was add a Dual HD radio with MP3 CD and usb, and tinted the windows 35%. It was a good car and I never had any problems with it, but the no A/C thing was killing me, so I upgraded to an E90 in 2009. I do miss the 35+ MPG though... |

The first car I ever drove was my father's 1976 Porsche 911.
The first car I ever purchased on my own was a 1984 Dodge Colt Turbo. White exterior w/red interior. It was all I could afford as a poor college student. Get this, it was a 4x2 speed manual. In essence, I had to push a small lever located next to the transmission forward, and the rpm range would change for the second set of gears. It raised rpms, got the turbo on boil, which allowed quicker acceleration. That car was a blast! It had a sticker on the rear hatch window that said: Don't step on the gas unless you really mean it. Priceless! |

1965 Ford Mustang. Red in/out. Dad bought new when he and mom got married. Drove through high school and first two years of college. I still have it in my garage.

1999 Nissan Maxima, 5-Speed manual gearbox. Super black color -I bought it for 3k- I still have it (with 210,000 miles), but keeping 3 cars for a single guy is excessive. I'm planning on donating it soon.

I had a 94 SC400 which I "fixed" by putting a 2JZ in. Never had so much fun in a car. Sold it for about 3 times what I had into it about 3 years later.
Got a 02.5 Jetta for the gas mileage and went to college. "Grew up" and bought the BMW because the Jetta was starting to show some wear after doing almost 150K |
