Do you smell a rat??
After reading the 335 common fault thread I thought I'd ring up my local dealer to check my car has had all the recalls done etc. I know I should have done it before buying.
Anyway the nice lady at the garage said "No, it has no recalls." I clarified and basically she was saying that it has not had any recall work done because there are no recalls attatched to the car... At all. It is an 07 built in Feb 2007 and I feel a bit suspicious of the answer from the dealer. What do you think? |

There were no recalls as such. The dealers relied on the owners to report faults and the fixed them. If an 07 car has no warranty history, then it's got way lightly. What mileage does in show?

It has got 47k on it. I have replaced the plugs and coils recently as it had a missfire and limp mode but apart from that no problems yet.

And would it be better calling BMW? Your car may not have any history with that dealership chain.
A few months ago I rang Sytner Sheffield about an E46 M3 as a favour for a mate. I assumed they had the same info as BMW but they could only look within the Sytner group. As it had never been to a Sytner dealer as far as they were concerned the car didn't exist. |

I have done this however after buying my car.
The correct procedure is to ring BMW specification line ( 0906 209 0001 / premium number and take ages), and ask them how many times your car has been to BMW dealers, when (dates) and with which dealers. Once you collect this information, then you should contact all of those dealers (if they are more than one) and ask them if any warranty works were carried out. If you have BMW history booklet with all dates and mileages, you can use that as well to ring dealers mentioned. Or other way of doing is to check with VOSA if your car comes under any recall issues. HTH.

BMW used the term enhancement programme, or something like that for inviting cars back to have injectors checked and replaced if needed.

I don't think ANY of the known problems were recalls. BMW would go bust.

So the results are in and apparently the only thing out of the normal service schedule was fitting the iPod connection and replacing the battery in April 2010.
The rest were just standard service, MOT and brake fluid etc... Crazy it looks like a 335i that actually has spent more time on the road than in the garage! *touches wood* (not that wood!) |

It does seem that you either get a problematical car or a problem free car.
Well done!
