Need a good carbon fiber vinyl suggestion
So I wrapped all my brushed aluminum interior with some carbon fiber vinyl.
This stuff to be exact: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V36SCQY..._H4mRwbWAZ1D0G Everything looked really good when I was all finished but over 3 days the corners started wrinkling and lifting. Can anyone recommend a good carbon fiber vinyl that will adhere and stay put? |

That carbon fiber 4d looks great...it would go with my red interior. What's the best wrapping process? Could I leave my interior put together? Just measure, cut, stick on??

Op- I have had good results with 3M 1080 vinyl. Its top quality stuff. It conforms to almost anything and the adhesive is pretty strong. For extremely tuff corners/contours I used some 3M adhesion promoter. It won't look like the stuff you got.....its a matte/flat black look.
Good luck with your project. |

For best results its advisable to remove the piece that you are wrapping. Make sure you clean thoroughly and also finish off with some isopropyl alcohol to remove any existing waxes, cleaners and such. Take your time and use a heat gun to get the vinyl to stretch over contours and around corners.

It should be applied dry to a clean surface.

The gloss CF is thicker than 3M wraps, which is why it's harder to work with especially around the corners etc.
Using 3M adhesion promoter, and a good amount of heat, should keep the corners down better. And the trim should be removed and wrapped, then reinstalled. Not difficult, but get a nice trim removal tool so you don't scratch your car. I have 4D gloss CF and still holding strong.

They have a semi-gloss one I think, but isn't really semi gloss IMO

4d is the dimension, versus 3d it has an extra gloss layer on top of the carbon fiber print. that vinyl you have looks pretty glossy any close up shots to show the carbon fiber pattern? it looks good

It's not the vinyl, when installing, you need to heat it up and let it cool off a few times after you've wrapped the part. Vinyl is cast flat so when you first wrap it over something, it's tendency is to return to it's flat state. Notice that when you have a creased piece of vinyl, if you heat it up, the crease goes away and the vinyl is flat.
Basically if you heat cycle it a few times, it will set and stay. Lots of people complain that they wrap their interiors and as soon as the car sits in the sun, the corners lift. It's worse because the 4D or 5D vinyls are slightly thicker than regular vinyl. I've wrapped plenty of interior parts in 4D vinyl from eBay and it's never lifted. It's harder to work with than 3M 1080 but it will stay fine if you install it correctly. I'd try heating the vinyl up a few times and putting the corners back down. Quote:

Here are some close up shots. I can try to take a couple more next time I go to my car. (Ignore the ashtray pattern, that has been corrected)
