Oil in fmic!!! Help

ok guys need some advice. Was installing a new FMIC, found oil in the coupling lines. Turbo seals are dead, still under the extended warranty timeline of 82 (67K miles currently).

I don't know that it was a failed wastegate or not, which according to everything I've read on the warranty says that's whats covered. I am going to call BMW AG tomorrow and start seeing what the process is. Anyone else have this issue or recommend anyone to talk to dealer or indy?

Oil in charge piping is normal.

had oil in my stock FMIC also when I swapped it. like the other post it seems to be normal.

Get an upgraded PVC from Rob Beck (RB Turbos). You'll also want the new connecting hose. @ $80 Just give Rob a call, he'll hook you up.

Oil in FMIC is not abnormal.. I had a bit when I swapped FMIC. Get the BMS Oil Catch Can. Will help a lot.

Charge Popes are usually covered in oil as well when they are upgraded.

What connecting hose? Wasn't aware of that. Took out my FMIC after 10K miles on the RB PCV and very little oil!

This is normal. This is why we get gunked up intake valves.

A little oil in the FMIC and the rest of the intercooler piping is normal. An Oil Cath Can (OCC) will take care of most of that. The most popular OCC is the BMS.

I'm guessing wedge means a new check valve? There are no hoses that you mess with to swap Rob's PCV valve.

If you think the tiny traces of oil in a properly running N54 intercooler is bad, you should see Audi intercoolers.

There will be a small amount of oil in the intake, but I've never been able to actually pour any oil out of a BMW intercooler or chargepipe. A few drips, smears of oil, yes. Pouring oil out? Never.

thanks guys, I am going the OCC route and will also hit up rob for the pcv fix. I got a little nervous when i saw oil, but all of your replies are making me less concerned. Thanks again

Even with an OCC, you'll get a little oil in the IC. No worries, though.
