which amp to push SWS 8?
Hey guys!
I have been away from the car stereo for too long. I really miss it! I just ordered SWS 4ohm. Which amp on the market now has good SQ and SPL? I want a stealth look. This is my previous sound setup on E46: McIntosh 5000 MB Quart 6.5" Q MB Quart 6.5" P Zapco 4 channel amp JL W7 12" JBL amp 1200watts Thanks!

The SWS-8 are EARTHQUAKES.... do you really think you need an SQ amp???
Also, don't expect too much SPL either, no matter what amp you choose.

Now that we've got that out of the way...what audio system do you have and how do you plan on getting a signal to the amp? Are you planning on adding additional speakers/amps in the future?

Thanks, I have an E90 with iDrive with stock H/K L7 speakers. I might upgrade or I might not. I am undecided for now. I'll probably get Alpine PDX-F4 for my 4 ohm SWS 8.

http://www.amazon.com/Blaupunkt-THA-.../dp/B000XFTASA It is perfect for what you want, EXCEPT that it is mono. Since the underseats carry some midbass signals, a stereo amp may work better for someone with a very critical ear, but then again, you are using Earthquakes. I was very happy with the way it sounded, and I DO have a critical ear! The BP amp, unlike most others, does NOT require an LOC and will accept the speaker level signal from the L7 amp directly.

The Logic7 OEM amp outputs 40W at 2 ohms for the mids/tweeters and 70W at 4 ohms for the woofers. Therefore the THA PnP amp high level inputs will be exceeding the limit with the 40W and most probably fail eventually with the 70W outputs. This THA PnP line of amps are designed mostly for OEM HU outputs and not OEM amp's. I would suggest a 75W+ LOC with OEM amps. |
