I think the grandma mode will save me some gas money getting used to it.

D mode and cruise control seem to get along a lot better esp. going up and down big hills.

Took a long drive home tonight, I have to say the D cruise mode is really nice. I don't drive my car like I stole it, but occasionally I'll enjoy the power the car provides, this new shift map is exactly what I think the car should be, and S is exactly what it should be.

I was gonna do it myself but decided to let someone that knows it well do it so I could watch and then end up with the right software for future use.

PM me for info if you're interested. It took about 20 minutes not counting downloading the software and the remote client.

Highly recommend if you want it done right and done quickly.

Here's a list if what I had done in addition to the Alpina flash.

EXX (IE: E90/E70/E60) Options:
Seatbelt chime disable for driver, passenger, or both seats.
Disable iDrive disclaimer
Windows Up & Down with key & comfort access
Mirrors in and out with key fob & comfort access (MUST HAVE FOLDING MIRRORS INSTALLED)
Unlock doors when engine is turned off
Window safety feature (When window is rolling up, you can open the door without it stopping)
Double Blinking Euro Hazards
Welcome Lights Fog Lights
Welcome Lights Headlights (high & low)
Remove iDrive Disclaimer (Faster boot up time)
Switch DRLs to Angel Eyes (03/07+ cars only)
Delete Amber front headlights (euro look)
Remove Ignition/Door gong
Sunroof close with Rain Sensor
FogLamps with High Beams
Enable Digital Speed in center cluster (M style)
Disable auto-correction for Digital Speedometer
Key eject*

Super solid and you can watch as he does it all.
Alex did mine too. All great stuff!

I love Grandma/D mode too! Driving 40-ish around town is really smooth now because the higher gears are reached quickly at lower RPMs. I have an xi and it's especially improved when coasting. No jerkiness when lifting off the gas to slow to a red light. "Smooth as butter" as many have already said.

And of course...S and M modes are much much better! Gotta love S+M !

Euro Spec Alpina B3 S Bi-Turbo transmission part number - 24007572071
Euro Spec 2010 BMW 335i transmission part number - 24007572071

HOLY SHIT!!!! SAME PART NUMBER?!?!?!?!?!?

Its not different/upgraded. Its just reprogrammed. Get off your high horse. Could it do damage? Sure. So can hitting a big pothole.
Can you look up 2009s as well - just for the sake of it?

I don't believe that the alpina b3 was made in 2009. But if it was made in 2009, no, I won't look it up, because it would be the same. There's no reason to.

I've had the flash on my n55 for about a few months now I like it but like everyone is saying "d" mode doesn't feel that great when you put your foot down compared to the stock trans firmware but of course everything else about the flash feels great .. my favorite is the rev matching downshifts

I actually like the Alpina D mode for normal driving. It is nearly seamless and great for stop and go traffic (no lurching, trans doesn't get confused). I also like that the trans won't easily kick down to 5th from 6th when accelerating at highway speeds like the stock tune has a tendancy to do. It is easy enough to down shift using the paddles if you really need to get the car moving.
