how to remove betalink?
I pmed George for some advice but I thought I'd ask some of the members as well, long told me to use a razor but thats kinda scary . Anyway long story short I was installing my cf spoiler this weekend using betalink and things kinda got outta hand :sad0147: because anyone who has used betalink knows its a bitch to use and can get very messy. Anyway I notice some of it on my spoiler and the paint today while I was removing all the tape. I tried the cleaner they give you but that didn't do much and then I used goo gone which did a really good job but didn't take all of it off. I was wondering if any of you guys know some special way to get all this crap off my car and spoiler. Its not completely bad but I'm anal and want everything to be clean .
p.s. just a tip for anyone who has plans to install their own spoiler tape the outside of it to prevent this happening to you, I wish I thought of it while I was doing it |

From my understanding..betalink is pretty much permanent. I've known folks who sold their OEM bumpers with the splitters intact because it was betalinked on. My concern would be even if you somehow get it off, it will damage the paint job.

I don't want to take the spoiler off i just want the betalink to come off some small spots. and its not really permanent because i got 90% of it off with some goo gone its really not that hard but some spots are a bitch to get off.

i use plastic razor blades for this exact situation!!!
They fit right in place in the razor holder that a normal razor would fit in and i go to town!!

Hey, got your PM. Some prepsol might work, but on Betalink, man I don't know.
You mentioned a PC and ZPC in your PM; that might do it too just from the heat. |

I tried getting my factory lame looking lip off and put a cf on. Well first off, (due to my experience) YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE THE OLD SPOILER!. You WILL have to break it off into pieces. Once the lip is removed you will have tons of leftover Betalink. To get the access off, tape off around the residue, then spray a lot of GooGone and rub it in. Next, use a heat gun and razor blade, (dont be scared because you will be covering it up anyways). It worked for me but i paid $550 for a CF spoiler and as i was looking to figure out how to take it off i stumbled across an Ericcson style CF trunk WITH built in lip for around $750 from "ModBargins.com" <----GREAT parts site, friendly and great customer service. They shipped in about 5 days and it fits great. I recommend CF trunks because you don't have to use betalink, it matches CF hood, cuts weight, and looks sick.
